make food choices for their preschool children. Qualitative Health Research, 25(4), 527-

Purpose of study: The purpose of this study was to “explore individual,
interpersonal, and socioenvironmental factors and conditions that constrained
mother’s ability to make healthier food options for their pre-school children and
the strategies that mothers used to push back against constraints that caused this
limitation (Walsh, Meagher-Stewart, & Macdonald, 2015).
Research Design The research design method used was constructivist
grounded theory. This will help to develop a better
understanding of actions, interactions and processes that
mothers do when making food choices for their children
(Gray et al., 2017).
Sample Selection Mothers 18 years and older with children ages 3-5 from
various facilities that provided pre-school education such as
public health services, Early Childhood centers and family
place resource centers. The mothers and their children also
had no dietary restrictions and were from diverse
backgrounds of economic, educations, cultural, and
geographical backgrounds (Walsh, Meagher-Stewart, &
Macdonald, 2015).
