, The conversion of electrical energy into thermal energy for immersion heaters
Abstract:
In this investigation, I am going to investigate the energy transfer in a water boiler and make a formal laboratory report
It will consist of the method, risk assessment, results, accuracy and conclusion.
Introduction:
This report shows the conversion of electrical energy into thermal energy for immersion heaters. Furthermore, this test
needs good time management as well as measuring the liquid correctly as I will record the energy transfer in boiling
water. In addition to this, the temperature of the boiling water must be done properly because if the right
measurements and temperature are not done correctly, then the results will most likely not be reliable.
Equipment:
• - Beaker
• - Thermometer
• - 100ml water
• - Immersion water
• - Power pack
• - Stopwatch
• - Ammeter
• - Voltmeter
Method:
In this experiment I am going to gather and set up the apparatus. When I have set up the apparatus I am going to place
100ml of water into the beaker, measure it accurately and also put the immersion heater thermometer in the beaker.
I have also made sure that the thermometer does not touch the immersion heater. When I finished this, I measured the
initial temperature and logged it onto the table. I switched the apparatus on and began the stopwatch and then logged
the voltage and current in the table. Lastly, I logged the time on the table, which was then transformed into seconds
and completed the table
