Introduction

In this document, I will have to create a resources pack for candidates and a
resources pack for employers. In doing this, I will create documents that I will
later have to use in order to complete a role play; when completing the role play,
i must make sure I have the correct documents that I will be writing about. In the
candidates resource pack, I will be explaining how to complete documents that
are needed in an interview, what should go in them and how to make them the
best so employers will be impressed. In the employers resource pack, I will
include all information employers need to know about recruitment and selection
when it comes to pre-interview, the interview process itself and post-interview.

Resources pack for candidates

HOW TO COMPLETE YOUR LETTER OF APPLICATION
A letter of application is the first contact you have with the employer; the first
impression is always the most important. The letter gives you a chance to sell
yourself to the employer as the best person you can be. In the letter you can
describe the work experience you have done and all posts of responsibilities. A
letter that is well presented will impress the employer and may make you more
eligible for employment.

When writing a letter of application, you should always write them in a particular
order: why you are writing, write about yourself, why you can do the job, what
attracts you to the job/company, confirm what you want and conclude. Doing this
will make sure you are able to write a letter of application for every job that is
applied for, and makes it easier for the employer to read as most letters are
written this way.

HOW TO COMPLETE YOUR CURRICULUM VITAE
A CV is used by the employer in order to see if the candidate has the correct
qualifications for the job role. A CV gives the employer an overview of the
candidate and how well they will fit into the job itself. CVs are used to apply to
more than one job therefore they may be generic; even if they are generic,
people should update them regularly in order to make sure it is always up to
date.

When completing you CV, you must make sure everything in it is correct as many
employers will check to make sure you are telling the truth about whom you are
and what you do.

HOW TO COMPLETE YOUR APPLICATION FORM
Application forms are another way of gaining information about a candidate. It is
easy and simple for the employer to compare. Application forms can be
completed online or on paper; the organisation have to decide which is easiest
for them.

An application form is a form created or used by the business in order to gain
information about you. When completing an application form, you should fill out
all of the questions and make sure to fill it out with black pen (if on paper) and to
be formal and polite. If they are completed online, you must make sure all words
are spelt correctly, and make sure everything is correct and answered in a formal
manner.

HOW TO PREPARE QUESTIONS FOR THE INTERVIEW
When preparing questions to ask the interviewer, you should make sure they are
suitable to ask and make sure they have not been answered in any information
packs they have given you. You must make sure the questions are relevant to the
job you are applying for and make sure they sound professional. An example of a
bad question could be, “how long will I have for lunch and at what time?” as that
makes it seem as though you want to get out for lunch as quickly as possible and
are not motivated to do a lot of work. An example of a good question could be
(relating to an Administration role) could be, “Would I gain my own work email
address from the company that I would be use in order to get in contact with
customers from?” This is a good example of a question as it tells the business
manager that you are eager to be part of the company as you want to use their
email address and that you want to get in contact with customer from that.

- Why has the position become available?
- What is the desired time frame for reaching the objectives?
- If I am hired, what would you expect from me?

The number of questions should be limited to about 3-5 questions as otherwise it
would seem you did not research on the business prior to coming to the
interview.

APPEARANCE, ATTITUDE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Appearance is important part of an interview; the way you look tells the
employer a lot about you. If you are wearing jeans and a t-shirt, the employer is
not going to think much of you. They are going to think you are lazy and do not
want to bother looking smart for an interview. When going to an interview, make
sure to look smart and well presented in order to make sure the employer thinks
you do actually care about getting the job and you do want to be part of the
business. Candidates need to be dressed smartly with a clean and tidy
appearance. They must also not be chewing gum.

Coming to an interview, you must have the right attitude. If you are in a bad
mood, this will most likely be given off in the interview and the employer will see
that you may get in bad moods at times and then may decide to not hire you or
even shortlist you. When going to an interview, you must make sure you are not
in a bad mood and you are in the right mind set to complete the interview.

Communication skills are one of the most important things you need to provide
evidence for in your interview; if the interviewer can see you have no
communication skills, again they may not even shortlist you. Communication
skills are important as you need to be able to communicate with other members
in your area and customers. If communication skills between the employee and
customer are non-satisfactory, the customer may decide that they do not want to
return as the person they were dealing with did not have good communication
skills and could not communicate with them or even their manager properly.
