,Stakeholders are groups/individuals that are affected by and/or have an interest in
the operations and objectives of a business.
Stakeholders can be categorised into groups as many businesses have different
types of stakeholders. They can be classes as Internal or External.

Internal stakeholders are individuals who belong inside the business. They are
‘members’ of the firm. For example, owners, managers, shareholders and
employees. They are typically directly affected by the success or failure of the
business.
External stakeholders are those who have an interest of the business, but are not a
part of the business. For example, customers, suppliers, community and the
government.

,Newry Mourne and Down District Council and Tesco both have many stakeholde
which have an influence on the way in which they operate.
First, NMDDC will be looked at and how the different stakeholders influence the
aims of what they do. Then, Tesco will also be looked at in the same way. Notes
accompany each slide.
The stakeholders of each business will be investigated and how they impact eac
business will be studied carefully.

, Community
The community of NMDDC are external stakeholders. However, they do have a huge impact on the
way in which NMDDC carry out their operations. The community are important as they want a safe
and clean environment and they see their local council as responsible for this.
The local community pay rates to the council which allows them to carry out activities such as stree
cleaning, bin collecting and fun days for the community. The community want the environment
they live in to be clean, tidy and safe. They want their council to take care of their local community
such as installing footpaths, grass cutting and investing in new buildings. The community are
interested in the environment, local jobs and the local impact the council has.
