Lake District:
[P3] The Lake District is a mountainous region in the North West of
England and has 15.8 million visitors a year. The Lake District is more
suitable for elderly couples, young families or groups of young adults with
an interest in the beautiful scenery. Domestic tourists with special
interests might choose to travel to the Lake District, they will get there by
road or rail, but most likely travel there by car as they will not have to
worry about researching where the closest train station is and then trying
to find transport from the station to the grounds of the Lake District,
young families or elderly couples are more likely to travel to the Lake
District by their personal car as they will need more personal items for
their stay. Inbound tourists will be flying into the country and the closest
international airport is Manchester or Glasgow so they will need
transport from the airport to the Lake District they could hire a car, so they are able to travel
through the UK. The Lake District is known for its natural attractions but it holds purpose-built
attractions as well such as Windermere Lake Cruises which will attract elderly couples as it is a calm
and relaxing trip with beautiful scenery, whereas a young family could find this difficult as children
will not want to be stuck on a boat for two hours as this is not part of their interests. An attraction
that could attract young groups or families is The Lakes Aquarium which holds a walk-through
attraction of a wide range of tropical fish, sharks and sting rays. As a natural attraction as it self-
people travel there to experience the natural beauty of the place as it holds a wide range of different
natural attractions including different lakes, rivers, mountains, forests and waterfalls, these
attractions are what the tourists are there to visit as they are relaxing and they appeal to a huge
demographic. The Lake District has a big range of facilities including accommodation; the district's
accommodation ranges from cheap hotels or hostels to higher-end cottages and hotels, for example,
a private room in the independent hostel holds 2 guests with one bed and 3 bathrooms, it also has
to heat a kitchen for self-catering and free WIFI for £59 a night. Whereas hiring a cottage would be
more expensive, for example, Heather Cottage holds 4 guests with 2 bedrooms and 3 beds, it also
has free WIFI and parking, as well as a kitchen for self-catering this accommodation a night, is £185.
There are also places for guests to eat; for example, the L’Enclume 5 star rated creative fine dining
restaurant with its own farm it also advertises for special events as it has large spaces that can hold
groups of people, all of their restaurants cater to young children, families, friends and older couples
offering special menus which have suitable foods. The Lake District has a wide range of different
sport and leisure activities for different demographics and needs; for example, the Helve llyn which
is an area of lakes and waterfalls which holds an amazing view with a walking and climbing chance
[this could interest middle aged couples or single travellers who are visiting for the beautiful natural
scenery] and another place that holds a different version of sport and leisure is Ullswater which is an
area with a massive area for water and sailing sports [this could interest teenagers and young adults
who are there with a group of friends or their family [this appeals mostly to people between the
ages of 13-40]. Other than sport and leisure there are other forms of entertainment held such as
museums holding different history and meaning, wide ranges of nature paths and places with
sculptures that relate to the area and history of that area. As well as shopping facilities which are
located outside of the lake district; for example, the Angel Square Shopping Centre which would
attract teenagers, groups of middle-aged women and elderly couples [ages between 11-50]. To get
to the shopping centres they will need to travel and if they have not travelled by their personal car
they will need to find local transport and the ways to travel around the Lake District are local buses
that run frequently during the day and run around the Lake District grounds as well as out of that

area to local facilities [such as shopping centres and exploring the town’s history]. All of these
features attract both inbound and outbound tourists but other features attract them too such as the
previous visits from the royal family, people might enjoy staying at the places the royals have also
stayed at so they can experience what it’s like to be them. Because the Lake District hold a wide
range of activities and facilities every visitor has a different motivation on why they are visiting; for
example middle aged and elderly couples or groups of friends could visit for the history and
relaxation that the lakes give, another motivation is a special occasion like a wedding because the
Lake District has venues and restaurants that can be rented for events, they also have beautiful
scenery that is good for photos. And having these motivations from visitors bring in a wide
demographic so the Lake District need to be able to cater for all types of people; for example
couples might want a relaxing time away together so the lakes need to cater for that, having facilities
such as spas and adult only restaurants will fit couples expectations. Whereas a family will want
facilities to cater their age group, the family might want their trip to be full of activities to do so the
district hold water sports and museums for all ages.
Brighton:
Brighton is a seaside resort in the East Sussex of England with a
population of 601,593 people. Domestic families would travel
to and around Brighton by car because they wouldn’t have to
buy train tickets for everyone, and they will have more space
for their personal belongings. They would travel into Brighton
via the main roads. Inbound families will travel to Brighton by
air, into London Gatwick and will travel either by road or trail
from Gatwick to Brighton. For example, London Gatwick to
Brighton is a 30-minute trip by train. They could also travel by
sea or rail; traveling by ferry, Eurostar or channel tunnel, they
would travel into Folkestone’s’ international station then get on
a separate train or hire a car to get to Brighton. The closest
ferry port is Newhaven and then they could travel by car or
train to reach Brighton, however when they get to Brighton they will be traveling around on road
because they will use a car, bus or would walk. Domestic groups would most likely travel to Brighton
by rail especially if they are under 17, because they will not be able to drive, and they can get direct
transport into Brighton train station. Inbound groups will travel by all forms of transport because
they are coming into the country either by air, rail or sea and then they will need to travel around
the country by rail or road. Brighton has a lot of different attractions including purpose built and
natural attractions; the purpose-built attractions include, the Brighton Palace Pier. The pier appeals
to tourists because it holds a lot of its own attractions, like rides for the whole family and groups,
amusement arcades with games for all ages and a VR experience with three different games that
older children and adults can play. The Royal Pavilion is a former royal residence with beautiful
scenery and interesting architecture and the British Airways i360 appeal to tourists because it is a
futuristic piece of technology that gives an amazing 360-degree view of Brighton. The Pavilion would
attract inbound visitors to see the place where there was former royalty. A natural attraction in
Brighton is Brighton beach which appeals to tourists because people in certain areas with no direct
access to a beach would travel to Brighton in order to visit a sandy beach. Many people visit Brighton
to see the natural attractions as many companies offer tours, which enables them to be taken to the
attractions via bus for an inexpensive price. There are many facilities in Brighton, including different
types of accommodation. Along the seafront there are many hotels for visitors to stay in, which
provides a lovely view of the beach. Many people choose to stay here because they are close to the
