Waste is any substance which is discarded after primary use, or is worthless, defective and of no use
There are many types:
Biodegradable waste – eg food waste
Recyclable waste – eg paper, cardboard, glass, tin
Inert waste – eg rocks, sand, construction waste
Electrical waste – eg kitchen appliances, computers, TVs, phones, cables
Composite waste – eg toys, clothing, drinks cartons
Toxic waste – chemicals such as pesticides
Biomedical waste – eg prescription drugs, infected dressings, sharps
