Skills related tasks

Starting out:
 underline key tasks in the instructions
 find an authentic text and have us confirm it will work
 do background reading about skills development
 check the staging of receptive / productive skills lessons in the flowcharts

Part 1
Justify your choice of material. State its source and genre. State why you think it is
appropriate for the students’ interests, abilities, and level by discussing its content, length
and linguistic difficulty. (Approx. 150 words, continuous prose)

For my group of Upper Intermediate students with mixed abilities, I have chosen a news
article, published on the national news website ‘[N]WORLD’ on the topic of ‘Indian woman,
104, aces test after learning to read and write’’ (1). I chose it because the students will find
the topic quite interesting as majority of them adore active lifestyle and travelling. Moreover,
everything related to self development tends to be a universal topic to work on. Thus, they
will be engaged and a bit stunned, hearing the heading of the article. If it comes to the length
of it, the word count is approx. 450 words which is not too long to get bored with.
Additionally, there are no blocking words in this article although some new words might be
guessed from the context. So, generally speaking, I do not find this text incomprehensible for
their level.

Part 2
Complete the procedural part of the plan as below, following the instructions.

Part 3
Rationale: see the last column in the procedure.
