Introduction
I am a lab technician working in a pharmaceutical company that produces and
develops new drugs. I will be making a report assessing the challenges in
communicating and storing a range of information processed and recorded in the
laboratory comparing the development laboratory system to the company
manufacturing department

P-7 To understand how scientific information may be stored and communicated
in a workplace laboratory
Lims is a laboratory management system that helps laboratories to improve their
lab efficiently by allowing them to manage data, and various samples. It also
helps to standardize tests, procedures, and workflows while accurately
controlling the process. Lims are used by workers in the laboratory and are found
in manufacturing, environment monitoring, and pharmaceutical tracking. Some
advantages of lims include it provides laboratories to produce repeatable and
accurate results, helps laboratories to to speed up laborious tasks and heps
retrieve and store results quickly

One objective of LIMS can include to improve accuracy and lab efficiency by
reducing the manual operations.
Another objective is to keep track of inventory by making sure by ordering
supplies in advance.
A 3 objective is that accurate record of each sample is kept in which detailed
information is record on the sample such as lab researchers name, and the
source of the sample
A 4 objective is to maintain timely and accurate reporting by automating daily,
weekly, and monthly reporting tasks

Phase 1 - volunteer sends a medical questionnaire. Health and personal
questions on the questionnaire. Questions and answers are complete on paper
and then transferred to microsoft database for technician to communicate with
each other regularly

Phase 2 - volunteer and medical professional meet. Information is confirmed and
blood sample is taken from volunteer and is labeled and checked into system.

,Medical professional signs to confirm the data barcode on volunteer blood
sample recorded for traceability

Phase 3 - volunteer blood is tested. Biochemical data. Results are added to
database by lab technician by barcode on the sample that links to volunteer
records
Phase 4 - trial drug administered. Type of drug, dosage, and duration. Information
is added to paper record by Dr. technician adds this to electronic database

Phase 5 - testing efficiency. Blood tests, functioning. Generated data added to
volunteer file

Phase 6 - report in understandable form for the counter. effectiveness data.
Baseline health data compared to data following the drug trial

1) scientific data is recorded the deputies and head of department to
retrieve and store scientific data safely made by that workplace
2) training record are recorded by training officer and head of department
to know the level if qualification of members of staff and maintain training
record required and completed by staff
3) scientific equipment is recorded by deputies and head of departments
such as date of purchase, schedules for maintenance
4) health and safety checks are recorded by health and safety officers to make
sure health and safety is monitored to and to record accident reports
5) security is recorded by security staff, health and safety officer where different
levels of security might be needed for different levels of work in the laboratory
6) report record are recorded by office support personnel reports for hospital
records and use in developing medicines
7) quality assurance is recorded by quality officers, head of department in to
shows quality procedures are carried out for audit purposes
8) specification levels are recorded by organization management in which level
the organization is allowed to work
9) management is recorded by security staff, head of department management
hierarchy and their roles is covered
10) COSHH records are recorded by technicians in which to be aware of
substances used in the organization which can carry potential risks and hazards

GDPR act is a EU law in which guidelines are set for the storage and processing
of data for every person living in the EU
One principle could include that personal data should be used daily and lawfully

,Second principle could include personal data should be used explicit and
specified purposes
Another principle could include personal data should be used in a way which is liite and
relevant to what is necessary
another principle could include how personal data personal data should be kept only if
necessary

Some targets of the GDPR act is to to ensure the protection of individuals and data that
describes them as well as organization that collect the data to collect it in a responsible
way.

P8 - explain how useful scientific information is obtained from large data sets, the
potential issues and benefits
The human genome project is a collaborative internal scientific research project
in which the main target is to identify, understand, and mapping of genes in the
human body. The HGP project was established in october 1990 and concluded in
2003 and has been sequenced with an accuracy of 99.9%
Some key objectives of the HGP can include to identify and locate every gene in
the human body as well as to know the chemical structure for each single gene to
determine how it is used in health and disease. Also the determine the sequence
of the entire set of the gene combined

1) One benefit of the HGP could include how its helps to detect certain diseases
in the human body more earlier therefore making it easy to understand and study
the disease and finding a possible and suitable cure to treat it
2) Another benefit of HGP suggests how it boosted the economy due to
successful project roughly making $1 trillion as well as employed more than 4
million therefore raising employment rates therefore more money going to the
economy
3) A third benefit of HGP shows how the project can help and improve plants and
animals health by identifying and understanding genes of plants and animals
4) Furthermore a benefit of HGP shows how it can help to identify offenders and
criminals
As by developing DNA fingerprinting it helps to compare DNA samples of
different individuals
5) A 5 benefit of HGP is that it helps scientist examine how humans were first
created and evolved and how we are continuing to evolving by understanding our
genome
6) Lastly a benefit of HGP shows how the bigger the human DNA samples the
higher the chance of determining the mean number of base pairs found from the
samples

,1)One issue of HGP could include how by scientists understanding and
controlling human genes scientists could have the capability to develop
everyone the same as well as the same personality therefore decreasing the
diversity of mankind
2)Another issue of HGP shows how it can create genetic racism as it suggests
how if scientists are able to design humans in a way specific way through
genetic information people who can afford the procedure have an advantage over
people who cannot afford it therefore over time society leaning over designed
humans rather than natural humans
3)Furthermore an issue of HGP shows how the rich and wealthy countries would
have a higher chance of experiencing the new technologies of the HGP project
therefore increasing the gap between developed and developing countries in the
world
4)Lastly an issue of HGP shows how if too much data of samples of DNA is
gathered of many people it can be challenging to classify each of the samples
individually

M6 analyze the differences in the storage and communication of scientific
information
In different workplace laboratories

Email
The reason why email is used as communication in the workplace
laboratory as it serves as a fast and instant way of lab members sending
information to another member in which lab members can access the
message and easily respond at any time due to not being able to meet face
to face

Induction
The reason why induction is used as communication in the workplace
laboratory as it allows new employees to be introduced in their role of work and
the company. This can include managers and various colleges meetings, current
lab members giving a tour to new employees of the different areas of the
company as well as getting to know the policies and rules everyone worker in the
lab must follow. Lastly as well as current lab members giving key information on
how to be a good member of the workplace laboratory
