2020 Summer Learning Assignment 1: Revision (and completion) of Online learning
The parts greyed out on the topic checklists are the sections that have been
completed with online learning; Chemistry A1 & A2(part), Biology B4 and B1(part).
>Ensure you have completed all the learning set online for each section
>Fill in the checklist by ticking the left hand side column to confirm you have completed
and self assessed the tasks set.
>Complete revision notes/flashcards/mind maps for all of these parts using the revision
guide AND student book and then update the “Revised it” column when this is done.
>Complete the relevant questions in your revision workbook and then tick the “Answered it”
column when you have completed them in full - Don’t leave gaps, research to find answers!
>Complete the self assessment of your confidence in each topic by completing the “Great
at it?” column with Y (yes), N (No), M (maybe) or another suitable note e.g. smiley faces.

The parts coloured pink are sections you must complete Pre-Learning Cornell notes
for. Use your Revision guide, Student textbook and Additional Guidance specification
file, attached again with the assignment on google classroom. The additional guidance
documents summarise the FULL detail required.
Cornell sheets for the relevant sections are attached on the 2020 Summer Learning
Assignment 2 task on google classroom.
When you have completed each pre-learning section Write “P” in the left hand column of
the checklist to show you have completed that section.
All digital learning must be completed, and uploaded if necessary, by the first day of
class in September.
Revision workbooks must be brought in to show the parts completed.

Understand the characteristic features of blood vessels
and pressure changes, to include:

pressure
❏ capillaries – link arteries and veins, one cell thick,
site of diffusion
❏ blood transfusion and the ABO rhesus system.
Understand the cardiac cycle, to include:
❏ atrial systole, ventricular systole & cardiac
diastole
❏ role of major blood vessels – vena cava,
pulmonary vein, pulmonary artery, aorta and
coronary artery
❏ opening and closing of the heart valves.
❏ be able to calculate cardiac output.
