• The term fungi is a general term that includes both yeasts and molds.
Fungal infections fall into two distinct categories
• Superficial Mycoses, Dermatophytoses.

• The superficial mycoses are the most common and are caused, for the
part, by a relatively homogeneous group of fungi, the dermatophytes.
