This report will consist of the principles of quantitative research, which

this report will be analysing secondary data obtained from some

quantitative research looking into the attitudes of student teachers about

inclusive education. Within this report it will compare the two research

methods and give examples of the types of data involved with each one.

As well as this, the report will take a closer look at the data collected and

look at the findings and interpretation of the data. Afterwards, the report

will explore the strengths and limitations of the data and the ethical issues

of the data.

The main focus of the report is surrounding the secondary data that was

collected through quantitative research. This research deals with numbers

and an objective stance, focusing on numeric data and data that does not

change and is detailed. The principles of this research method is that the

researcher can use measurable variables, randomise the sampling of the

participants, present the data in different ways such as in tables, graphs

and figures. “Quantitative research is scientific investigation that includes

both experiments and other systematic methods that emphasize control

and quantified measures of performance” (Hoy, 2010). I have chosen to

use secondary data that was collected using quantitative research as it

gives the chance to explore the collected data in different ways such as

how many people agree with a statement but also be able to view where

some people disagree and be able to form theories and ideas around why

this might be. The method allows for the chance to collect information and

data through different sources that can be done in person and online

allowing for a large number of participants to take part in the research.
