, WHAT IS THE TRINITY?

• Core, foundational and essential belief of the Christian faith
• We believe in One God who exists in three equal, distinct, eternal Persons.
• God the Father, God the Son (i.e. Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit
• They consist of the same substance e.g. they have the same attributes / made of the same “stuff” –
each Person is fully God, equal in power, majesty, glory and wisdom.
• God is ONE in essence / substance but THREE in Persons.
• Jesus is eternally generated by the Father – eternal Son of the eternal Father.
• They honour, praise, glorify and uplift each other.
• They fulfil different roles in creation, salvation and redemption but act towards a unified purpose.
