, Occupational therapists observe and analyse what people do as well

as the quality of performance skills (Chard and Mesa, 2017).

Occupational therapist develops interventions which is expected to

promote health, well-being and participation (American Occupational

Therapy Association (AOTA), 2014). This essay will be around a four-

year-old boy called Jayden, who was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy(CP).

Drawing is the occupation focused, but CP influenced his health and well-

being, affecting his drawing performance and hindering occupational

participation. The following will encompass an activity analysis of

drawing, occupational performance analysis of Jayden’s drawing

performance and an intervention plan to reach Jayden’s goals in order to

enable his participation in drawing. Subsequent to the essay will include

Jayden’s Occupational therapy assessment report.

Drawing belongs to leisure participation according to table 2 in

Occupational Therapy Practice Framework (OTPF) (AOTA, 2020). Leisure is

defined as a nonobligate activity, driven by self-motivation and undertaken

during discretionary time, which means time is not devoted to obligatory

occupation such as self-care, work, or sleep.” (Parham & Fazio, 1997). While

Organization, 2001).

Activity analysis

Activity analysis is a tool used by occupational therapists, it is the

dissection of an activity into components and analyse the inherent demand

and meaning of the activity (Creek, 2010). An individual doing a typical

activity, such as drawing, can be broken down into a sequence of tasks using

different performance skills.

Meaning and purpose of the activity

Drawing is a form of art in which individuals use drawing utensils to

create an image. There are various meanings and purposes of drawing.

Drawing as a kind of leisure activities, could share potential meanings of

leisure. Leisure gives people a sense of freedom, because it does not bear

obligations unlike obligatory occupations such as work and self-care (Craik

and Pieris, 2006). It allows physical and mental relaxation from obligatory

occupations and routines (Roelofs, 1999). Besides, participating in leisure

activities promotes people from finding self-identity and personal development
