To deliver high-quality care within the health and social care systems, it is essential to
promote equality and diversity for people with various needs. People who need health and
social care services are frequently in a vulnerable position, thus they must be safeguarded
and free from prejudice. The Equality Act 2010 and the Human Rights Acts of 1998 are two
crucial parts of legislation in the UK that are centered on preventing discrimination.
The Equality Act of 2010 is a legislative framework designed to shield everyone and
everyone from prejudice and unfair treatment. It guards against people being treated
unfairly or differently by others because to their gender, age, or beliefs. No matter where
they are from, everyone deserves to be treated fairly regardless of who they are or what
they stand for. Such as gender, age, and religion, such as Christianity, Buddhism, or even
Judaism.
The Human Rights Act of 1998 is a UK legalisation that safeguards the most disadvantaged
members of our society and enables them to access care and a variety of supports. Many
people are entitled to the services and necessities they require, such as protection from
abuse of any kind. For example, for not having to attend a criminal court trial, for
maintaining one's privacy, for the education rights, or even for the freedom to vote
elections.
To provide a fair and equal set of norms, legalisation is impartial and equitable. They are in
place to protect and assist people in order to stop discriminatory attitudes and actions. The
Human Rights Act of 1998 and the Equality Act of 2010 both work to combat prejudice by
bringing to light specific traits that should be safeguarded. For instance, a person may be
discriminated against based on their colour, religion, human needs, or handicap. In order to
feel comfortable and secure in the type of society we live in, it gives the strength and ability
to combat discrimination by protecting these and other forms. More comfort will be
provided for the numerous individual human rights and their environment as a result.
Billy, who has a sort of condition called a visual impairment, may face discrimination as a
result. Billy must be treated equally to other service users in terms of rights and
opportunities by those around him. To ensure that Billy receives treatment and is not
subjected to discrimination because of his vision impairment, they must abide with the
Equality Act of 2010 in this manner. Billy may experience discrimination since he is too
young for his age; at just 18, he will be viewed as a child and treated as such. His health and
physique will experience some minor effects as a result.
Promoting equality and diversity is very important in the health and social care
, Setting because this helps to give all the service users opportunities to activities and the
treatment and any service that may provide . For example, It is widely important that
Billy is fairly getting the equal amount of opportunities so that the right atmosphere are at
his right mood e.g. audio info or surroundings. This gives Billy the right equal of access to all
the services that is available to him and to make sure that is he is happy about the
treatment and care that is receiving . Under the act of equality act for 2010, Billy is must be
protected for is disability and though for his age as he is (18 years old) , must be prevented
from be possibly discriminated and making that his services are supports his desperate
needs.
It is also important to promote equality and diversity for Valerie as she has hearing
impairment and may be discriminated as a result of his disability . services needs to make
sure that they provide Valerie with equal amount of opportunity to other service users and
provide her with equal access to the services she needs . This will give Valerie to feel more
comfortable with the her surroundings and allow her to have the freedom in society .
. As Valerie has a low esteems and struggles with mental health problems after the death of
her parents . This means that she bust be provided with support could be provided to
Valerie to help her initially gain confidence and try to help her understand that she needs to
lose a certain amount of weight by giving her a variety of information and assist her to gain
confidence to do so.
It’s is extremely important to protect anyone and everyone to protect their very rights and
wellbeing so that they have equal opportunities. This can be could be based on race, sex or
gender health disability , social class ,ethnicity ,age . By preventing discrimination will also
help people feel more confident and have freedom. To prevent discrimination can also help
wide society to be more accepting and less judging towards others . In the Health care
setting there are strict policies and procedures that must be followed by all staff to prevent
discrimination. Every staff must follow to the equality of act of 2010 ,to make sure that the
effects of discrimination is being taught and there are certain barriers to the Health and
Social care services are challenged . If this rule was not put in place many people will be
discriminated in many ways or forms which could lead to serious problems with induvial to
access services.
For Valerie and Billy g, preventing discrimination is crucial. as it means they can feel safe and
very secure when accessing to the health and social care services. As in the past both of
them have been subjected to discrimination and may they will find it very hard to access
certain services due to low confidences . If the place continues to put anti discrimination
practice in place and to fight discrimination , this allows Valerie and Billy to feel more
confident within themselves to access all the services that they need.
