Colchester Zoo’s main purpose is to provide a first class experience for all its visitors and at
the same time further understanding and respect for animals (Colchester Zoo, 2015). Their
other main purpose would be to earn a profit to ensure the zoo stays open.

This organisation operates in the tertiary sector because it provides a service/product to the
public to use. This service is allowing the public to view animals at a cost and buy products

Colchester Zoo offers a more hands on experience where customers can view the animals
close up and even feed certain animals during ‘feeding time’. During the talk we received on
our Colchester Zoo visit, it was mentioned that Colchester Zoo tries to offer competitive
prices compared to London Zoo’s. They feel they offer more and sell it at a lower price.
