Jack apologises about the fire.
The meat is handed out. Piggy is given none.
A reenactment of the hunt is made: “As they danced they sang ‘Kill the pig. Cut her throat.
Bash her in.’ “
Chapter 5
Another meeting is held, and Ralph begins to doubt his capability as Chief: “ ‘I can’t
think, not like Piggy’ “
Ralph reinforces rules. They are not being followed: “ ‘We decide things. But they don’t
get done.’ “
Jack rejects the rules: “ ‘Bollocks to the rules!’ “
The assembly breaks up: “The assembly shredded away”
Ralph wants to give up his position as Chief. They wish that adults were on the island:
“ ‘Grown-ups know things (...) then things ‘ud be all right’ “
Chapter 6
A dead parachutist lands on the island
SamnEric sees the parachutist and thinks its the beast
Another assembly is held to discuss
Jack arranges a hunt for the beast: “ ‘This’ll be a real hunt!’ “
The hunt goes to Castle Rock. It's empty but Jack thinks its a good fort
Chapter 7
