INTRODUCTION:
This assignment will delve into the training and development practices at Tesco, examining
the meticulous planning and effective delivery of training programmes within the
organization. By exploring these aspects, I aim to gain insights into Tesco's strategies for
enhancing employee performance and fostering a culture of continuous learning and
development.
EXPLAIN THE IMPACT TRAINING HAS HAD ON AN INDIVIDUAL IN TESCO:
Training programs at Tesco have had a significant effect on individuals, promoting both
personal and professional development while enhancing overall performance and job
satisfaction. Firstly, the training initiatives offered by Tesco present employees with valuable
opportunities to acquire new skills and knowledge that are pertinent to their respective
roles. These comprehensive programs enable individuals to gain a deeper understanding of
their job responsibilities, industry best practices, and the latest technological advancements.
Consequently, employees can carry out their tasks more efficiently and effectively, resulting
in heightened productivity and improved quality of work.
Additionally, training at Tesco plays a vital role in cultivating transferable skills that can be
applied across different areas of employees' professional lives. These skills encompass
effective communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership capabilities. By
refining these proficiencies, individuals become better equipped to tackle challenges,
collaborate with colleagues, and assume higher levels of responsibility within the
organization.
Crucially, training has a positive impact on employee motivation and job satisfaction. When

INTERVIEW WITH A MEMBER OF STAFF:
In order to assess the impact of training on individual roles within Tesco, a 1-1 mini
interview was conducted with a member of the team. The purpose of this interview was to
gather insights into the training experiences of the selected individual and how it has
influenced their performance and responsibilities within Tesco. The following shows our full

INTERVIEWER: Thank you for taking the time to participate in this interview. Let's begin by
discussing your training experiences in Tesco. Could you please share with us the types of
training you have received during your tenure here?
INTERVIEWEE: Thank you for having me. Over the years, Tesco has provided me with
various training opportunities. Initially, I underwent comprehensive onboarding training,
which included an introduction to Tesco's values, policies, and systems. Since then, I have
participated in product knowledge training, customer service workshops, and leadership
development programs tailored to my role.
INTERVIEWER: That sounds like a diverse range of training experiences. How has this
training impacted your role and performance within Tesco?
INTERVIEWEE: The training has had a significant impact on my role. Firstly, the product
knowledge training has enabled me to provide accurate information to customers, leading
to improved customer satisfaction. Secondly, the customer service workshops enhanced my
communication skills and taught me how to handle customer inquiries and complaints
effectively. As a result, I can provide a better shopping experience for our customers.
Moreover, the leadership development programs have equipped me with essential
leadership skills, such as team management, problem-solving, and decision-making. This has
allowed me to take on additional responsibilities, leading a team of colleagues and
contributing to the overall success of my department.
INTERVIEWER: It's great to hear that the training has made a positive impact on your role.
Can you provide specific examples of how the training has helped you overcome challenges
or improve in your responsibilities?
INTERVIEWEE: Certainly. One instance was when I faced a challenging customer complaint.
Thanks to the customer service training, I was able to remain calm, actively listen to the
customer's concerns, and resolve the issue in a satisfactory manner. This not only resolved
the customer's problem but also strengthened our relationship with them.
Additionally, the leadership development programs provided me with the tools and
knowledge to effectively manage my team. I learned valuable techniques for motivating and
engaging my colleagues, resulting in improved teamwork, increased productivity, and a
more positive work environment.
INTERVIEWER: That's impressive! In your opinion, how would you describe the overall
importance of training and development in Tesco?
INTERVIEWEE: Training and development are highly important in Tesco. They not only
enhance individual skills and knowledge but also contribute to the overall success of the
