Unit 6: Assignment 2 - Design and Develop a Website

PASS

P2

Introduction:
I’ve been employed as a junior web developer for HotBeans web and I have
been tasked to create a website so they can advertise their job vacancies. The
website needs to have a clear, intuitive design that is easy to navigate and
use.

Overview of the Business:
HotBeans is a web development company that was created in 2003 and
based in Hampshire, Portsmouth. HotBeans are responsible for hosting,
creating and maintaining websites for their clients, who are usually well
established professional brands.

Problem Statement

Full Summary of the Problem to be Solved:
Hotbeans current problem is that they have no way to advertise their vacant
roles to potential employees. I’m going to solve this problem by creating a
section of a website that will allow users to view current vacancies and apply
for jobs through the website.

Target Audience:
The main target audience for HotBeans website are adults / postgraduate
students who have experience in web development and completed related
training courses and / or qualifications.

Constraints:
The first constraint I have with this project is that the deadline for the website
is the 27th of April. This means that I have to be well organised and prepared
and I’ll do this by using my gantt chart. The second constraint is the lack of

,budget. This means that I won't be able to use custom widgets that cost
money.
Benefits:
One of the benefits is that the website will make use of HTTPS. This means that all
traffic going through the website will be encrypted and protected from hackers.
Furthermore, hot beans will be able to advertise their web services online and to
anyone in the world. This means that they can increase their target audience and
work for people outside the country. Furthermore, by creating a website, people will
have 24 hour access to the content that is posted. This means that people in
different time zones etc can still look at services and email the business through the
website. Furthermore, it provides an opportunity to gain more long term customers
and clients as the businesses online presence grows. Furthermore, other websites
may have outbound links to ours e.g. other business who we have a good
relationship may shout us out on their website

Nature of Interactivity:
When designing my website, I need to ensure that I include key elements of the
nature of interactivity. Some of these include the forms, sliders and menu bars of the
website. These allow the website to become more intuitive, which allows the user to
more efficiently navigate through the website, especially if they're new to the website.
Furthermore, I need to ensure that my

SMART Targets:
Target 1: Complete the development of the website by the 12th of April
Target 2: Create 5 high quality web pages with high quality content
Target 3: Create a functioning application form

Client Brief

Introduction / Mission / Current Situation:
The website is being created as a way for hot beans to recruit new web
developers. The mission is to create a functional website that allows users to
navigate through different pages and enquire about the job. Furthermore, the
website needs to be fast and efficient as well as optimised for all devices,
including desktop and mobile devices.

Proposal / Goals:
Hotbeans current problem is that they have no way to advertise their vacant
roles to potential employees. I’m going to solve this problem by creating a
section of a website that will allow users to view current vacancies and apply

,for jobs through the website. To ensure I can develop a suitable website, I
have created smart targets which are: create the first draft by the 12th, create
content and ensure high quality, which will allow me to work efficiently and
stay on a time scale.

Target Audience:

SEO Strategy

To ensure my website gets to the top of the search rank, I’m going to ensure
that I include relevant keywords, such as: “web development services”, “web
design”, “fast websites”, “efficient web development”, “mobile optimisation”.
Furthermore, I’m going to ensure that my website includes quality content and
an easy to understand structure, by using clear headings and subheading.
Furthermore I'm also going to ensure that my website has a high number of
external links to other websites to ensure that it's seen favourably in the page
rank algorithm. I’m also going to ensure that the images on my website are
optimised as this will reduce loading times, which can help it appear further up
in search engine results.

SEO Violations

One thing we need to try and avoid is the overuse of key words as this can be
detected in the page rank algorithm and cause our website to be placed lower
in the search results. Furthermore, we need to make sure that we use minimal
duplicate content, as well as optimised images to ensure our website loads at
a fast time. We also need to make sure that we use appropriate tags and
internal linking. Furthermore, making sure that our website is optimised for
different search engines will also help appear higher in the search rankings.
