The purpose of this project is to design and create a website that will act as a digital portfolio for my work that I have
completed for college. This project will allow me to present my work and IT skills to future teachers, employers, or
universities to prove my knowledge of the job area, the role of planning the project will make sure I complete the
design and creation by their deadlines with a fully completed and functioning site. I will be keeping track of my
progress with the website plans and schedule to ensure I have plenty of time to develop and make changes
comfortably without haste, allowing the project to flow efficiently.
I have created a simple Gantt chart in Microsoft Project, as seen above, with the start and finish dates showing the
duration of task, as well as what should be done simultaneously. As the project is rather simple, I have broken it into
eight task that need to be completed. The task follow in a sequential order so that the preceding activity must be
completed before beginning the next.
The first task is to research web design, software, and user needs – I will need to look into the theme, colour
schemes, and overall style that I want my website to have; the software that I will use to create the wireframes and
website itself, with the factors such as user/client/end user needs which I will have to explain the ways I fulfil the
requirements in the design documentation. Further research into website accessibility for users with disabilities that
affect the way they use the web, and the techniques I can implement into my site to make it as accessible and
friendly as possible. These tasks have been allocated five days overall to collect enough information as preparation
to start.
I will then be able to create the annotated wireframes of each web page using an online specialised application for
creation website templates called ‘Moqups’, which will require to be used on Google Chrome as Microsoft Edge is
not yet supported by the software. The design will be given five days to be finished and then the design document
can be written out using exports/screenshots of the ‘Moqups’ wireframes and required reports using the
information gathered during research.
