Welcome to the Teaching Practice TPF3704 module. This examination portfolio 50 must be
completed as part of the compulsory four weeks of learning in practice, and one week of
learning from practice. You do not need to be in the school during this one week. During
these five weeks, you are expected to complete face-to-face case studies and online activities.
We hope you will find this module interesting and that it will enrich your teaching career.
You must read through all the tutorial letters you receive as they always contain important and
urgent information. You can download them soon after registration. They are our way of
communicating with you about teaching, learning and assessment.
Tutorial Letter 101 contains important information about the assignments for this module. We
urge you to read through it carefully, to keep it at hand when working through the study material,
preparing the assignments, and addressing questions to your lecturers.
We have also included certain general and administrative information about this module. Please
study this section of the tutorial letter carefully. It contains all the information to guide you on
how to complete your entire Teaching Practice. You are required to complete face-to-face case
studies, and the online lesson activities as provided in this tutorial letter. You are urged to
submit this examination portfolio before the due date. This examination portfolio is the final
examination of the TPF3704 module.

1.1 Overview of the teaching practice requirements for TPF3704
The five weeks teaching practice for TPF3704 comprises 4 weeks learning in practice (face-
to-face) and 1 week learning from practice (case study).

• You may not spend just a few days at a time in a grade. You must spend a full week in
each grade.
• You may devote five consecutive weeks to your teaching practice.
• Alternatively, you may start by doing the first two weeks and then the remaining three
weeks later.
• You must read the placement requirements (5 weeks) for your teaching practice, which is
dealt with by the Teaching Practice Office.
• The full five weeks must be indicated on your placement form.
• If you are completing your teaching practice at two schools (preschool and primary
school), this must be indicated.
• No student will be allowed to do their teaching practice before receiving confirmation of
placement from the Teaching Practice Office – Read Tutorial Letter 102.
• Lecturers do not issue confirmation of placement.
• Your assignments must be submitted two weeks after you have completed your teaching
practice at the school.
