The
Retail store
I have decided to create my own visual merchandising display using clothes,
accessories, fashionable jewellery, and homewares as this allows for there to be
a variety of different techniques to be used. The displays which I am creating will
allow me to not only sell to customers in person but to also promote new items
and sale items through various social media platforms such as through
Small
Instagram as this will help to increase sales and therefore boost revenue and
profits in the long run. As well by having this promotion online and this business
account, I will also be able to sell items online and post the items to those who
have bought them. Therefore, if for any reason I couldn’t sell items in person, I
would still be able to have a source of income through the online store.
Plan for my visual merchandising display:
Things In
Display
, As you can see in the picture above, these are my initial spaces which I will be
using to create my display. I have chosen to use this space due to the position of
the area as it is a highly trafficked area. Not only this but there is also warm
lighting in this area and so it makes customers feel cosier and as if they were at
home and will feel more relaxed compared to if there was harsh lighting in this
area. The plain wall paper will help me to create a stronger display as this
simplistic view will allow for the product I am selling to stand out. Not only this
but this area is also in a highly trafficked area with it being near the store
entrance and therfore this is will also help to attract people to this area. Therfore
due to most people being attracted to this area I am going to want to put the
items which I want to sell the quickest in this area.
One display technique which is crucial for customers to have, especially when
buying items such as clothing, is a variety of mirrors. If people were able to see
what the product would look like on them then they are far more likely to decide
and find a product they like within their visit. Whereas if they were unsure of
what the product would look like then customers are more likely to air on the
side of caution resulting in them buying less and therefore reducing profits.
Another technique which I am using is style blocks. For instance, having all of
the tops together then all of the trousers together. This helps to keep the display
more organised and also makes it easier for customers buy items as they know
where to find certain things. Therfore allowing ease of access to items helps to
build the positive buying experience which is key in having a successful store as
if you make it harder for people to buy things, they will leave the product
resulting in far fewer sales.
