o ONS: FAMILY & HOUSEHOLD STATISTICS EXPLAINED:
 2011.
 Household = 1 person living alone, OR group of people (not always related)
living at same address. Share cooking facilities & living room. Can consist of
single family, more than 1 family or no families (unrelated group).
SLIDE 5 & 6: WHAT’S A FAMILY
o ONS: FAMILY & HOUSEHOLD STATISTICS EXPLAINED:
o Family = married/civil partnered/cohabiting couple (with or without kids), OR
lone parent with kid/s – lives at same address.
o Dependent kids = living with parents aged under 16 OR 16-18, in full-time ed.
o Non-dependent kids = living with parents aged 19 yrs+ & no spouse, OR aged 16-
18 not in full-time ed & no spouse.
