Health and social Coursework
I am writing today to talk about adolescent, early childhood and early adulthood we are also going to
be looking at physical, intellectual, emotional and social through out this assignment. I studied a very
known artist and we will be looking through the different aspects of Demi Lovato’s life.
Adolescent is where a child’s body start changing into an adult, this life stage is called puberty which
generally happens between the age if 9-18 years. Early childhood is from age 3-8 years where the
child would have developed physical and intellectual skills such as fine motor skills for e.g. writing
and reading. Early childhood is between the age of 19-45, in this life stage you would experience hair
loss and would have developed your intellectual by having a job, starting your family, and living on
your own and would have developed your physical skills because you would have reached your full
height and stopped growing.
Early childhood
PHYSICAL: Demi Lovato’s early childhood was very exciting and different compare to other young
children. Demi was born 1992 in New Mexico, however Demi started walking at 2 ½ which is a very
late age compare to her other siblings. Where as an average human being would start walking at 18
months. As Demi grew older her parents noticed she would join lots of performing arts clubs and
enjoyed singing and acting however this is the stage of her life where it was hardest for her. She did
not stop her dancing, acting and singing she carried on with joining her competitions as she grew a
little bit older her mum found her an agent which she still works with till now. Demi’s dad Patrick
Lovato, was an addict and was abusive towards Demi’s mother, Patrick would lie to Demi about
having cancer and would tell demi that he was about to die which made demi broken hearted and
was the reason she stopped speaking to people In her school which affected her social development
because she moved away from people and only had one friend which made her become socially
isolated which links to social.
INTELLECTUAL: Demi Lovato’s mother was very worried about how she was being treated so she
divorced her husband and took the girls however Demi did not understand at that age as she was
only 6 she was now emotionally unstable. She intellectually developed her skills in reading while on
“barney and friends “and her skills within performing. She physically developed her gross motor
skills while she was dancing in her shows and used her legs and arms which strengthened them and
developed her fine motor skills when writing songs.
EMOTIONAL: However, Demi’s emotional status went down when she started gaining weight which
resulted in her getting bullied which she did not understand at the age of 6. Even When Demi did get
bullied she decided not to tell her mum or siblings as she thought the family had been through so
much with her abusive and manipulative father had left them in such a state.
SOCIAL: she was on a famous tv show named “Barney and Friends” at the age of 7 this improved her
social life hugely as she made lots of friends 22
