Write a narrative account analysing the key
events of the Berlin Crisis. (8 marks)
During the course of, and after the second world
war, there were 3 peace conferences for the
victors of the war to make decisions about what
should happen to post war Germany. It was
decided at Yalta and Potsdam that both Germany
and Berlin should be split into four sectors, each
sector controlled by one of the allies- Britain, USA,
USSR and France. Stalin was concerned about
there being Capitalist controlled parts of Berlin
because Berlin was part of East Germany, which
meant that it was supposed to be owned by the
USSR. He was worried about Capitalism spreading
through from the West to the East as they were
