Unit 1: Assignment 1 - Bradford Council

Scenario
I am currently employed as a recruitment officer at Bradford Council in the personnel
department. I have worked for the Council for 3 years now and been promoted recently too
senior recruitment officer at the Council. In my new role I have been asked by my line
manager Mark Smith to give a presentation at a recruitment evening for potential new
employees.

Explain the personal attributes valued by employers (P1)
 Technical knowledge
If the Bradford council was looking for a technician he or she would need to know the parts of a
computer and more specifically know how to fix one, for example: if someone was applying for a job
as a technician, he or she would need to know this. If he or she doesn’t know the parts of a
computer, then how can he or she do the job? They can’t simple. Basically IT skills in the end is what
this individual’s needs.

 General attributes
Team working – Working together sharing ideas, sharing the creativity they have in their mind about
the subject their working on. This is a good and way to get the others to think harder too. And team
working is most of the time better than working on your own, if you’re not a hard thinker; this team
working will help them in a way and they will be able to take advantage on this. This will also show
their boss they know what they talking about. The Bradford council will value this because it’s an
easier way of getting information.

 Attitudes (other soft skills)
Determination – How well committed they are to their job. Example: if they are not excelling in their
work place and like haven’t been promoted ever in their work time, this is not because they are not
doing their work fast enough. But because they are not trying at all to even get the work in on time.
They simply have no determination towards their job/work. And soon the boss will probably give
them a demotion or sack them. Bradford council will also value this because if there’s no
determination in them, then what’s the point in them having the job? When you could give it
someone who passionate about what they do and try their best.

 Good working practices
Health and Safety - The health and at work expresses that all representatives must take great
measure of care to themselves and other people who could be influenced by what they do. It
likewise expresses that on the off chance that you are a worker who had a damage at their
occupation, your doctor had confirmed that you have a work related reportable disease or seen a
dangerous incidence, you have to tell your employer. Bradford council will value this because why
