Social inequality is the way different individuals get treated compared to other people in the
society. They may be treated differently due to their different characteristics or the
impression they make to other people in the society.
An example of social inequality is giving one person more access to resources than other
people would receive. For example, a person with good stability can afford the cost of good
education and services that help in teaching while those who have lower income and are
unable to provide for themselves would not be able to afford these things. Income different
individuals receive shows the different care in which a person would a receive. In a hospital,
if a person who received good income had a disease, they would be able to afford the
treatment in which was needed to treat them. However, those in the lower class struggling
to help themselves would not be able to afford the treatment for themselves. This is social
inequality as it is giving one person a better life while the other one must remain suffering
because they could not provide for themselves. Income affects different people in society as
it causes competition and rivalry causing people to leave those who need help and them
paying for things that are not needed in their lives. Distribution of money is not equal and
causes wealth inequality giving those in the lower class, anxiety, and stress as they would
not be able to show their full potential due to them not being able to afford the different
resources needed.
Inequality is giving those in the society less opportunities than other people who have
already been given multiple chances. Before, men were seen as more dominant in society
than women so were given more chances. As this view was shared around openly to those
in society there was a lack of awareness going around on women’s abilities supressing what
they were capable of blocking their rights. Women had no freedom so were unable to stand
up for their different opinions and thoughts. People were giving men more chances at job
opportunities as people thought women in society were too weak to handle the workload
and were better seen off at home. This is inequality as more women in society were
provided with less resources and different access to certain things. Gender determined
different things in society before which is not fully gone but still happens occasionally.
Inequality affects the society around people as it gives some less chances to engage in
different activities and enjoy themselves.
However, because of feminism there were a lot of political movements on the inequality of
women and how they should be given a place in education and different workplaces. This

, played a huge part in inequality as it prioritised the view of women and gave them a voice
so they could say what they thought was right in society. Feminism played a significant role
on inequality as it ensured there was equal rights allowing both men and women to get jobs
and the ability to vote. This helped in changing laws and policies for the improvement of
society and to improve the inequality that is in society. This movement empowered women
allowing them to realise what they could do during their life and letting them fight for
freedom giving more chances for them to perform well. It changed social inequality as it
helped men realise how women should be given the same respect and improved the quality
of their lives. It also helped spread awareness around on women and their different
perspectives on men. To improve this inequality resources must be distributed evenly, and
different social groups must be treated in the same way. Pay for women must be the same
as it is for men so they both receive the same amount of income. It also helps in ensuring
women can get to a high position in society the same way men do improving the
representation of women.
Labelling is usually used when calling out someone due to their actions or when showing
what they look at the individual as. For example, a person who may show negative attitudes
in a class may be labelled as they act in a way different than other people. Social inequality
is shown through labelling as it singles a person out and makes them feel pressured.
Labelling is bad as the person doing it may treat them differently compared to everyone
else. This is negative as it gives the individual less chances to prove themselves and
decreases their work level. Labelling people can be seen as bullying as it leads to people
starting to accept what they are being labelled as supressing their abilities and having
negative thoughts on what others think of them. This affects a person and their mental
health as they would start to distance themselves from others as they would want to avoid
anything else bad being said about them. Labelling should be avoided as it makes the person
who was labelled believe everything that is said to them was directed to them because they
were called out before.
Social inequality can also be shown through labelling of society’s hierarchy as people are
ranked on the amount of income, they receive. This is bad as it causes stress and anxiety for
those on the bottom as they are seen as poor. As those in the higher part of society’s
hierarchy are seen as rich people would give them more opportunities as they look better
while those in the bottom must work their way up or they would not receive the attention.
This shows us that labelling determines a person and their traits. Labelling in society is
negative as it causes huge conflict between higher class and lower-class people. These huge
conflicts are because the people who are less provided in society will go to violent ways to
ensure they are able to receive money to provide themselves. To improve the inequality in
the society people must give equal pay to all classes so they all are prevented from
experiencing homelessness. This social inequality can also be prevented by eliminating all
laws and policies that only help in benefitting those higher in society.
Discrimination is when a person is treated differently because of certain characteristics or
their ethnicity or gender. These characteristics cannot be changed meaning people are not
able to prevent racism for happening. Due to stereotypes on different ethnic groups people
will always judge those who are a different ethnicity as other people do it. Some ethnic
