Learning theories are a conceptual framework that is able to describe how
information is retained and processed during learning (Gan, 2017).
Honey and Mumford:
When talking about honey and Mumford this was a type of learning style that would
be useful to how people learn, this was developed during the 1980’s which basically
looks at the 4 different learning characteristics in terms of ‘active, reflective,
theoretical or practical learning’(2011-2017, 2017). This theory explains that we all
have different ways of learning but also a preferred way of learning for instance
some people like to read about a subject while other people would like to get on and
do the task but this is not accurate as preferences could change over time as you
might find a learning style better than the one you already have (2011-2017, 2017).
Key influences:
When talking about key influences, key influences could be friends and teachers:
Friends could be an influence on an individual’s life as individuals we are able to
contribute to once life differently. When n a person starts somewhere new they will
initially start associating with people that they click with and this would become the
people that you associate with on a day to day bases which could have an influence
on your learning progress. For instance if you are hanging around people that are
lazy with completing work then you might pick up the trait of starting to be laid back
and not completing work to the best of your ability.
When talking about teachers they could have an influence on how a person learns
as over a person’s life time they are taught by different teachers and different
teachers have different learning styles and by every teacher having a different
learning style you able to figure out what is they correct learning style for you. Every
person would come across a teacher that would want them to do the best for them
so they might enforce a way of learning so your able to get the grade you deserve to
why I feel that teachers are a big influence on someone progress as you are with
them more that you are with your family if you think about it.
