Introduction:
Training and development
In this assignment I will be constructing an essay with aims of explaining reasons for why
amazon trains their employees and assessing my explanations. Training is acquisition of skills,
knowledge and competencies as a result of teaching whereas, development is the process
where an individual can grow, change and become more advanced in their skills and
competencies.Training is teaching, or developing in oneself or others, any skills and knowledge
that relate to specific building usefulness. In business terms, training is established and referred
to as building skills, expertise and competencies as a result of teaching. In the worklife of an
employee, Training has specific goals of improving one's capability, capacity, productivity and
performance in their job. The main goal is to increase the knowledge and skills of the workforce
to enable employees to perform their jobs effectively. Training enables an enhanced employee
performance, boosts employee productivity, reduces employee turnover, and improves
company culture.
Introduction Into My Company And their Training Procedures :
Amazon
Amazon Shopping is the world's largest online retailer. The
company's founder, Jeff Bezoz, founded the company in 1995 and
has since experienced and undergrown exponential growth and has built an overall established
brand identification among the general public and wider audience range . Amazon shopping is
an online shopping system that allows customers to purchase goods, merchandise via mobile
applications or websites in which goods would be delivered through their delivery system at
the comfort of the customer's home. Buyers can make purchases from a business that is part of
the Amazon Online store. Amazon requires its employees to train to build certain skills and
expertise that can influence the increase of productivity and efficiency to ultimately make a
reliable service for its customers, enhancing customer retention rates. Amazon uses on-site
training and development programmes available to all hourly Amazon employees. The program
offers classes on a variety of skills such as resume building, interviewing skills, effective
speaking, time management and problem solving skills. This is a development strategy utilised
by amazon that teaches their staff members how to become more productive and

Types of training
Informal induction :
Informal training is when the new employee learns by trial and error. They get familiar with the
workplace themselves and continue to learn and improve on it as time goes by. This kind of
training might lead to the frustration of the new employee and finally to them leaving your
organisation.
Formal induction training:
Instead, formal introductory training is a deliberate attempt to introduce new employees to a
new job. This type of introductory training may take longer, but is more effective and successful.
Employers need to adequately train new employees, how the work in the organisation is
conducted and the tools used. If you take the time to introduce yourself, new employees are
more likely to move to work.
.
Reasons for training:
, Strategic:
Strategic is an outline of the actions and decisions a company plans to take to reach its business
goals and objectives. This defines what the business needs to do to reach its goals, which can
help guide the decision-making process for hiring and resource allocation. This contains;
increased profit, Market leader, and Increased turnover.
Increase Profit:
The level of training reflects on the business’s profits. Given that Amazon’s training process is
structured correctly, when a business recruits individuals and provides them with the correct
training, they will enhance their skill set which they can now apply to their job to further
generate profit for the company. Amazon can upsurge their profit margin provided that their
employees receive a sufficient amount of training that reflects optimal effectiveness in the
working environment; Amazon's Employees are fluent in their skills and time effective, for
example solving customer queries; thus saving the company money in the long run to train and
recruit employees, as their employees are working to optimal level and portraying their skill set
in their work performance. Additionally, training employees can increase Amazon's Profits
without necessarily increasing the businesses turnover, for instance finance and budget training
is likely to result in the business ability to control or reduce costs; therefore, leading to financial
benefits for Amazon .Amazon can look into offering employees with training, to ultimately
improve their customer service which can contribute to increases in customer retention rates
and to enhance amazon sales and profitability
Market leader
Amazon could increase market share by increasing innovation, as this would help create new
services as well as developing new marketing strategies to increase the visibility of their service
and its brand identity to a wider range . Innovation could also help develop how the business
operates, to encourage this Amazon could train their staff through a development programme.
By Training its employees amazon can offer better customer service to its consumers, which will
lead to increased customer satisfaction which will result in higher customer retention and
business growth and repeat, greater visibility of amazon service which will contribute to
increasing their market share. Amazon is now the Market leader in the Online shopping
services, becoming a prominent and reliable firm to purchase goods from online, which directly
influences Amazon staff turnover rate to decrease.
