This is the last assignment in Unit 5.
This piece of work is a guidance for the P5,M4 and D4 Unit 5 - you can use it to have an idea of what to talk about in your own assignment. My teacher has signed this off - so it does meet the grading criteria - Distinction overall for this Unit.

P5, M4 – Identif and describe how diferenn groups and organisatons have
influence on science궀
In this assignment I will identif and describe how diferent groups and organisatons have infuence
on science mainlf iocusing on the pressure groups.
One oi the pressure groups which I have looked at is the ‘Voluntarf Euthanasia Societf’; this group is
ior to change the law ior those who are sufering verf painiul conditonss letng them to die with
their own choice rather non-painiul death. For examples those who are sufering irom paralfsis
might not be happf with their liie due to the conditon thef have. Thef might think that thef can’t
beneft the societf in anf waf and thef might think that their iamilf has a tough tme handling them.
That individual might be willing to periorm euthanasia; howevers thef can’t because in most
countries it is not allowed. These tfpes oi researches must be iunded in order to support the rights
oi people because everfone has a iree will. Another reason whf some oi the organisatons like the
Voluntarf Euthanasia Societf might iund the scientfc research involving the process oi the
euthanasia and helping people relieve their pain is because scientsts might be able to fnd a waf to
treat those who are sufering with painiul conditons. The iunding irom this organisaton is verf
benefcial and infuence the research which is carried out in a positve waf because the more iunding
the research the more likelf the scientsts are going to be able to discover new treatments and the
organisaton is going to supplf people with a wider range oi opportunites.
Another group which I have looked at is the ‘Greenpeace’; this group is a volunteering pressure
group which doesn’t make anf proft because all oi the earnings go to the charitf use. The group is
iocused on the issues concerning the planet and the earth state. This pressure group has helped to
reduce the use oi the nuclear weapon testng. Alsos there have been successiul tmes ior helping
with reducing the toxic waste being dumped into the sea. The group has afected the view points oi
the societf in to be more recfcling and also make sure not to throw rubbish into the feld-liie as it
will harm the habitat oi that region. The iunding irom the Greenpeace organisaton can make a
diference in the societf oi people; this is because ii the Greenpeace could iund anf rentng oi
equipment which is used to clean certain areas e.g. waste machine-bins to transport the waste irom
the diferent regions such as remove waste irom the sea. The iunding irom this organisaton is going
to infuence science because it could help people use the equipment without spending their own
monef. The monef is taken irom the iunding oi those who are willing donate the monef and who
are willing to partcipate in making the areas oi the societf a cleaner and a beter place.
