The Rights and Responsibilities of the employees of Tesco
Tesco’s employees have many rights which are either statuary, this include that the
employee must be paid the national minimum wage by their employer, you should
have a written statement which explains the main terms and conditions of the job,
Your receive you holiday entitlement, You are given the correct amount of breaks
this can include during the hours you are working and outside of work if you work
more than 48 hours a week. Employees also have the right to not be discriminate
against in the work place and they have the right to not be dismissed or treated
unfairly in the work place. If an employee attends a disciplinary or grievance, they
have the right to have a trade union representative with them. This cover the
employee in the work place because it make sure that they are being treated fairly,
they make sure they don’t use their employees to their advantage. Employees are
covered by the Equality Act 2010 this make sure they are not treated any differant to
any other employee.
Tesco’s employees have the responsibility to make sure that they turn up to all for
their shift on time and to Tesco’s presentation standards in the correct uniform.
Employees also have the responsibility to make sure that they fulfil their job role and
carry out all the task which are stated in their job role. Employees have to make sure
that they take reasonable care within the workplace and always put their health and
safety first and consider other employees health and safety. Employees are
responsible for not misusing any machinery or equipment provided by the employer.
The Rights and Responsibilities of the employers of Tesco
The employer has the right to dismiss any employee who breaches their contract,
they must have valid reasons for this dismissal and clearly state these. Employers
have the right to not be discriminated against by any employee and not be
mistreated by employees. Employers have the right to expect hard work from their
employees, this is because they are paying their employees so they should in return
work have for their employer. The employer has the right to set their business aims
and expect their workforce to work towards these aims. The employer also have the
right to set a condition of service for all for all of their employees and if needs be set
a grievance procedures.
The employer has the responsibility which are related to Health and safety the first
responsibility is to make sure that the work place is maintained and that no
employees are exposed to hazards. The employer is also responsible for making
sure all employees are aware of the hazards and risks from their job role, this means
that the employer is responsible for making sure that all employees are provided the
correct instructions, training and supervision to work safety. Employers have to make
sure that the business is cooperating with health and safety standards and fit for
working.
Employers are also responsible for making sure that they carry out a fair recruitment
practice and make sure they treat all of their employees the same and not
discriminated against any employee. They have the responsibility to make sure all
