What is a serial killer - A serial killer is an offender that has committed 2 or more unlawful killings over
separate events (there must be a period of time in between them)
- - hedonistic serial killers – these are individuals that kill for the thrill or
gratification that they gain from the killing. ( this can include any sexual
motivation e.g ted Bundy).
- Mission serial killers – these are individual that kill in order to remove a specific
group from society (for example the Yorkshire ripper who believed he was
killing all prostitutes to cleanse society)
- Common traits e.g lack empath and display predatory behaviour (such as
stalking), they are likely to have experienced childhood trauma.
- Characteristics = 25-34 years old, intelligent and street smart, predominantly
male and are charismatic and charming
