P1: Types of Dementia symptoms ind common signs of developing one:
Dementa is a common snndrome that occurs as nou get older uusualln oeer 5 and older).
Usualln cannot be cured unless found at an earln stage uthe process could be slowed down).
Types of Dementi:
1. Alzheimer’s disease – most common tnpe of dementaa this dementa is when there
are plaques in the brain which cause the brain cells to die and therefore the human
organism dies as well.
2. Vascular dementa – this is the dementa when there is a problem with blood being
transported to the brain.
3. Pick’s disease – caused bn the damage of the front part of the brain/lobe which
makes the brain impulses to slow down and therefore afect the wan the indieiduals
interpret and take in informaton. This dementa is more likeln to afect someone in
the age of 5 and below.
4. Lewn Bodies dementa – this is the tnpe of dementa where the indieidual loses their
mental abilitn with the non-stop death of the brain cells. This will make the indieidual
haee a slower cognitee impairment.
. Huntngton’s disease – this is the disease where the some of the brain neree cells get
damaged oeer a certain period of tme. It gradualln gets worse as the indieidual gets
older; it can afect the abilitn of moeement.
5. Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease uCJD)- it afects the brain cells and is the rarest one of
them alla afects memorn loss and loss of balance and co-ordinaton in the indieiduala
possible abnormal jerking moeements.
