teenagers at an excavation in Egypt.

Chico adormeceu e as irmãs mostraram-se impacientes. Outros jovens também
estavam aborrecidos, fartos de estarem sentados. O professor levantou-se e
começou a falar:

“Ora as maldições* dos faraós* têm uma longa história. Conto?”
Pergunta inútil, pois era tudo o que queriam.

“No outono de 1922, dois ingleses encontraram no Vale* dos Reis o túmulo*
perdido do faraó, Tutankhamon. Entraram no túmulo e de sala em sala
encontraram objetos fantásticos. Um dia, uma cobra enorme comeu o pássaro
dos ingleses. Rapidamente, os trabalhadores acharam que era uma mensagem
