Unit 38- business and the economic environment
In this assignment I will be explaining the effects, of changes in the economic
environment on a selected business.

Tesco PLC is a multinational grocery and general merchandise retailer headquartered
in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, England, and United Kingdom. After Walmart, it is the
second-largest retailer in the world measured by profitsand second-largest retailer in




the world measured by revenues. It has stores in 12 countries across Asia, Europe and
North America and is the grocery market leader in the UK (where it has a market share
of around 30%), the Republic of Ireland, Malaysia, and Thailand.

What changes in the environment means to me?
Changes in the environment can cause a lot of problems such as, global warming/
temperature changes. This affects the population because We might see increases in
flooding; more extreme heat waves; loss of some species (e.g. birds and trees) and the rise
of others...potentially including pests.

Business cycle
This is when economist make judgement about the economy, they use a number of
different indicators to measure how the country is doing compared another point in
time, for example last month. They also use indicators to make judgements about the UK
economy compared it other economies around the world.
