Unit 18 – Managing a business event
M2 – Analyse the arrangements made by an event organiser to plan a business
event
An events organiser must put numerous arrangements in place to ensure a business event runs
successfully. These arrangements will be the frst thing an event’s organiser must ensure is complete
before they can begin the event, and by making smart arrangements, some risks will be severely
lessened.
For our basketball shootout event, there were several arrangements which must be put into place to
guarantee that the event would be able to run with the least problems possible.
Firstly, a suitable destnaton for our event had to be found which could accommodate the suspected
number of people and had the correct equipment for us to use. I chose the sports hall due to this
having a large selecton of equipment, as well as already hostng a wide range of sportng events,
such as numerous basketball tournaments. In additon, I chose this venue due to the central locaton
to the customers as well as it having great transport routes, being located close to a major A-Road
and walking distance from Cambridge North Staton. An indoor venue was chosen due to the
possibility of rain calling of an outside event, as well as the cold temperatures, which would
discourange some people from atending the event. The Cambridge Regional College campus also
has adamant parking inside the walls as well as a large amount of free on road parking available a
short walk away from the site.

the usage of the sports hall during the tmes of our event.
