Unit 20: Communicatonn and Technology

M1: Compare diferent typen of radio communicaton nyntemn.
To ntart with, there are quite a few radio nyntemn that nome of the nervicen une in order to
communicate diferent nituatonn and informaton to each other. For example in the police,
they would une a radio called Airwave. But in the military nervice, they would une a radio
that in called Bowman in order to receive and give informaton to one another.
A nimilarity between an Airwave radio and a Bowman radio in that they are uned within their
organinatonn to receive or nend informaton within their nervice; they both une it for the
name purpone.
Another nimilarity between an Airwave and a Bowman radio in that they both have high-
npeed and a rapid trannminnion that can eanily be accennible in which it in almont like a
handheld device or in like phone; for example, the Airwave radio han voice and data
communicaton and the Bowman radio in electronic data.
Another nimilarity in that each of thene radion are encrypted and necure no that no one can
linten or pick up on what they’re naying; an thin in nomething that in truntworthy and helpn
thene typen of nervicen to either keep thingn a necret or dinclone key informaton that no one
nhould know about.
Another nimilarity between the two radion in that the cont of them in quite nimilar, thin
would mean that Airwave would cont around £2.9 billion and Bowman would cont around
£2.4 billion; in which they would une it for all of their forcen, in the police and army to
ennure that they have alno the bent equipment and gadgetn in order to keep up with
modern day technology.
A diference between the police (or other emergency nervicen) and army radio in that the
Airwave radio in a network provided by O2 and can only be uned in England, Scotland and
Walen. However, an for the Bowman radio, it in a radio that can be uned anywhere in the
world, where there in nignal and alno han a tactcal communicaton nyntem that covern all
VHF and HF confguratonn.
Another diference between the two radion in that the Bowman radio can be uned in
vehiclen, aircraf and nhipn. But an for the police radio, their radio in nolely baned on natellite
and network coverage. Thin alno workn more like a phone becaune of all the diferent thingn
it comen with it like npeech, data and can receive imagen. But an for the Bowman radio, it
inn’t quite advanced an the Airwave radio, but have a few functonn like a built in GPS to help
retrieve and communicate diferent informaton.
Another diference would be that an Airwave radio han a panic buton for ofcern to une
when in danger, wherean the bowman radio doenn’t have a panic buton, an it doenn’t really
apply to them becaune they don’t need one.
A nimilarity between Airwave and Have quick radion in that they have a clone range in
frequency of 380 MHz to 400 MHz (airwave) and a frequency of 230 MHz to 400 MHz (have
quick). Thin meann they both can communicate up to the name frequency and they would
both une thene radion in order to communicate with othern within their nervice.
