Job description
The purpose of job description for Tesco is that it provides clarity on what the job position is like which
includes: the responsibilities for the job position, the skills and experiences required for the job, etc. This
is so that Tesco will prevent themselves from hiring fraudulent candidates by having them provide their
CV to check if it aligns with the job the description that they have displayed. Job description needs to be
clear because it is essential for Tesco to hire the right workers to keep the productivity level maintained
at a high standard within the business. If the job description was not to be clear, the likelihood of
productivity rates will decrease that will have a knock-on effect on their, production rate leading the
profitability rate to fall, etc. This contributes to successful job offer as the business sets a clear
requirement for candidates and for those who meet are obliged to apply. Therefore, job descriptions
would allow me to receive successful job offers knowing that I will only apply for jobs that are within my
capabilities and since I have met the requirements, this increases the chance of me proceeding to the
next stage of the recruitment and selection process which is interviews as a way of validating the
credibility of the information given to them in document.
The job description for Tesco compared to Asda is that Asda is more detailed in the job position they
offer to give potential candidates a full grasp of what the work is like and what to expect when working
for Asda and gives a detailed description of the benefits you can gain when working. Moreover, they
have also included what the training you would expect to undergo for the job role that you're applying
for and including the importance of customer service. In summary Asda’s job description is more
optimistic and will likely have workers applying for their job positions from the use of assuring
candidates by stating how they would guide them and the positive end results after engaging with the
guidance provided by Asda.
Whereas for Tesco, the job description is a lot shorter than Asda’s to give potential candidates an instant
grasp of what the job is like with bullet points of skills and experiences that you may require to have. In
some cases, some Tesco job roles are similar to Asda’s in terms of the layout and the amount of detail
the description includes. The main difference between Tesco and Asda is Tesco’s more detailed in terms
of the benefits you will be provided such as discounts on various products and services (café, health
check, etc), retirement plan, exclusive deals, life assurance and also provides you your work schedule
(e.g., number of hours to work). I think Tesco’s job description is better than Asda’s because it is simple
and straightforward, and it is also clearer with a provided time schedule and benefits. However, one way
that Tesco can improve their job description is that they can try and make their job description shorter
and straightforward as an attempt to not overwhelm candidates with too much information that may
discourage candidates to apply for the job roles which is not Tesco’s objective as they are looking for
workers immediately to fill in vacancies to resume productivity rates at a high standard.
Job analysis
,Job analysis involves determining the necessary information relevant to a particular job role. This can be
the skills and experience required for the job, the qualifications and knowledge that is essential for
successful performance of the job role. This is crucial for a business to have because to initially hire
qualified workers, they will need to let the public know what is to be expected once they have applied
for the job role to be hired. This will reduce the number of fraudulent candidates they will receive in
their application list as it will clearly outline the requirements of a job role. Therefore, this contributes to
successful job offers as it provides candidates an understanding of the requirements they are required
to possess to decide if they are a good fit for the job role. If they do meet the requirements, candidates
are more likely to succeed and move onto the interview stage.
