For this assessment I will be describing how each volunteer can maximise the safety
of the young adults in the centre, also explain why is it important to assess potential
risks when planning care for the young adults. I will also be evaluating the
importance of risk assessment when planning care with three examples, than a
description of how each young adults rights to confidentiality is protected within the
centre. Finally I will give an explanation of why the centre protects the confidentiality
of the young adults referring to the data protection act 1998 and giving three
examples, also a justification of three occasions when it would be necessary to
breach confidentiality in the training centre.
At challengers employees can keep the young adults safe in the centre by going
different things.
Not sharing written information without permission this leads to the young
adult’s confidentiality they can do this by, securing storage of records,
including those stored electronically, however this my have to be broken in
case of any serious concerns.
Log books- this will keep track of the staff and visitors that have entered the
centre. If there was a fire the manager of the centre would look at the list and
do a register to see if everyone is there. This is for health and safeguarding of
the young adults
DBS- this is called disclosure and barring service, every staff has to have one
before they work with children, it proves to the managers and parents that
they haven’t been involved in any criminal offence.
No use of phone- this is to keep the vulnerable young adults safe from any
staff trying to take any pictures to post anywhere, as there have been a case
that this woman was taking pictures of baby’s private parts. Therefore, it is
important for staff not to use their phones.
It important to check for risk when providing for care because it will identify
hazards and minimise the chance of any harm that could be caused. This will
make the service user/client feel safe within the centre without any hesitation.
Another reason why it is important to check for potential risk when planning care
Is because the young adults need to feel safe around the person who is taking
care of them, they will do this by every staff doing a DBS check. This will tell the
centre id any staff has had a criminal record or has been involved with any sexual
incidence with a child. This makes employers make a safer recruitment decision
and prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable children. (educare
