INTRODUCTION AND BUSINESS INTRODUCTION
,In this assignment, I will be discussing how to use and apply social media in my chosen
business. In addition, I will identify the chosen business's goals and how they may use social
media to achieve these goals in order to be successful. Following that, I will create a social
media plan for the company to utilise, which will include the posting schedule, content,
reasoning, and justification. I will also make sure to show that I discussed the social media
plan with the owner to ensure that they approve of it.
Established in 2014, Scoops diner and dessert
bar is based on 328 Normanton Road, Derby,
DE23 6WE in the East Midlands. Located within
a 5-minute car ride to the city Centre, Scoops
diner and dessert bar is found to be in an
urban built-up area in the heart of Derby. At
this location, they have a few competitors
surrounding them for example Wafflebox and
Yannis, who also sell a variety of desserts.
However, a unique selling point of Scoops diner that differentiates them from their
competitors is the fact that they also sell a range of savory dishes which is convenient for
customers who want to go out and have a meal and a dessert after, meaning they will not
have to travel to different places in order to do so. A closer competitor to Scoops Diner
would be Yum Burger who sell both savory and sweet items. Similarities between these two
businesses are the fact they are both well-know popular places who both sell similar items,
nevertheless are known for different reasons. Scoops is more popular in terms of their
desserts but Yum Burgers is more known for
the savory dishes they sell and specialize in
compared to their desserts. Some businesses
that surround them include a supermarket, a
book shop, a betting shop and some other
takeaways. Scoops are seen to be a part of the
Scoops express branch which also have
another location in Derby and one in
Nottingham. This particular Scoops has around
twelve employees and two-part owners which
makes up their staff. They offer a variety of
cuisines, including Italian, American, and Asian-
inspired cuisine, as well as their well-known
desserts and handcrafted classic authentic Italian ice cream. They believe that they offer
good quality food at affordable prices, therefore, this would attract customers. Their
opening times are Monday to Sunday: 4:00 pm – 11:00 pm and can be contacted either
through the number 01332 988316, via their website https://scoopsdiner.co.uk/about-us/
or on their Facebook or Instagram pages. Scoops do have a small online presence as they
currently use Instagram and Facebook to try and promote themselves, however, Scoops has
,been around for 8 years, therefore, should have a strong online presence but they do not.
This is due to the fact that they did not have anyone focused on the social media aspect as
they felt just having it was enough than keeping up with the growing trends. They offer eat-
in, take out and collect. Scoops interior consists of 7 tables with around 24 seats to
accommodate customers. They have an option to order online through their website and
other food and delivery websites such as Just Eat, which is suitable for customers that do
not want to collect from the store so it becomes easier for them as they can get their food
delivered to them with a click of a button. On average Scoops usually have 30 deliveries, 15
eat-in and 5-10 take-outs per day. A promotional offer which aids the business is on
Tuesdays when Just Eat offer a 20% off meaning more deliveries are made on this day
compared to any other. Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday’s are the busiest days out of the
week for them. Spending prices vary, but on average a customer spends approximately £15.
Various people who have tried their service have left positive reviews most of them are 4 or
five stars out of five. The following images below showcase the type of foods Scoops offers,
their menu and an average customer rating they have received on Just Eat.
