A1 Purpose and Principles of website products

I have chosen to compare amazon and eBay. They are two both e-
commerce websites that sell items and services.

Purpose of the website

I have chosen amazon and eBay, the purpose of the website is to sell
products to customers such as clothes, electronic devices and many more.
These websites are classed as e-commerce websites, to basically sell
products and services. On one hand eBay sells accounts on platforms, for
example accounts for PlayStation and Xbox, amazon don’t sell these types
of things. The purpose of amazon is to connect users so they can find and
discover anything they want to purchase online. The purpose of Ebay is to
connect communities to create economic opportunity for all users. The
image below shows the amazon webpage, and it is advertising the
products to users in the image below it says “top deal” which is
persuading and attracting the users. The eBay webpage is also persuading
and attracting the users. The purpose of the website is that users can buy
the products. The purpose is also to interact with the website and search
for what you want to buy.

Content features (technologies)
Web 1.0 is the earliest version of the world wide web; it was a basic and
static form of the internet. These types of websites are simple, mainly
offering text and images with limited interactivity. Websites that use this
tool are static, which means you cannot interact with it, you cannot
change or update the website. The langue used for web 1.0 was plain
HTML design, it focused more on information rather than interactive,
which makes it boring.
Web 2.0 is the second generation of the world wide web, web 2.0 is more
interactive and dynamic. This era introduced features such as social
media, user generated content and dynamic web applications. Websites
like Facebook, YouTube and Wikipedia use web 2.0, this is where users
can share and come together online. Web 2.0 is more exciting and
entertaining for users as it has transformed the internet into a vibrant
platform for interaction, content creation and many more like
collaboration.

A static website is a basic type of website that displays fixed content and
doesn't change based on user interaction, this means you cannot interact
with it and cannot change the text and images.

A dynamic website is when you can interact with a site and change its
content, also respond to user interaction. For example, real-time updates,
databases etc.

Amazon is a web 2.0 website, the features include user accounts,
products, reviews, recommendations and interactive shopping experience,
this makes it a dynamic and user engaging platform. You can also review
a product to say it is positive or negative. You can interact with the
platform in many ways like listing to music, audiobooks, purchasing
amazon prime, watching movies.
Ebay is a web 2.0 website, the features also include user accounts,
products, reviews and interactive shopping experience. This makes it a
dynamic and user engaging website. You can also start selling on Ebay,
which is easy and simple, this allows you to put a product up on Ebay for
users to see and can also like and write a review on it.
Overall, both websites Amazon and eBay run on web 2.0, this means the
website is interactive and dynamic. When I use my mouse I can click on
the search bar, sales, and different categories, it takes me straight to it.
Web 3.0 is the third generation of the world wide web, web 3.0 is open
source, meaning anyone can use it. Example of web 3.0 is cryptocurrency,
block chain technology.

electronics and more. When you want to purchase an item/product, you

digital platform where users offer to provide services on these websites.
You won't be able to buy products/items. Amazon is an e-commerce
website that sells products to users such as books, electronic devices and
small and big products. It lets users to sell and buy products on the
platform. It also offers movies, music, and cloud computing services it’s a
