P1 – Describe physical, intellectual, emotonal and social development for each of
the life stages of an individual
In this assignment, I will be describing the P.I.E.S for the 8 life stages for a chosen individual. My chosen individual is
Amy Winehouse. The life stages I will be discussing are concepton, pregnancy, birth and infancy, childhood,
adolescence, adulthood and older adulthood/fnal stages of life.

Concepton;
Physical; All human life begins with concepton, this is where the female egg cell meets the male sperm. The egg cell
travels from the ovaries down the fallopian tubes into the uterus, if sexual intercourse occurs there is a possibility of
concepton. The sperm is eaaculated from the man's penis during orgasm, and fertlises the egg. Fertlisaton is when
the man's genetc informaton aoins with the woman's genetc informaton to make a new human being. Only about
half of fertlised eggs survive, sometmes they are lost without the woman knowing. Mitchell Winehouse and Janis
Winehouse are Amy Winehouse's parents. They had sexual intercourse and Amy Winehouse was conceived 9
months before September 14th 1983.

Intellectual; Amy Winehouse did not develop intellectually during concepton.

Emotonal; Amy Winehouse did not develop emotonally during concepton.

Social; Amy Winehouse did not develop socially during concepton.

Pregnancy;
Physical; The start of pregnancy is when the sperm penetrates the egg, it then starts to divide 1.5 days later. Afer 2
3 days the fertlised egg is about the size of a pin head. The egg then travels to the lining of the uterus where it
becomes an embryo and becomes atached by the placenta. When the embryo is atached a chemical signal stops
the woman from having her menstrual cycle. Afer 8 weeks the embryo is now called a foetus and it is about 324cm
with a heartbeat, a beginning of eyes, ears, arms and legs. For the remaining 7 months of the pregnancy, the organs
will contnue to develop untl the baby is ready to come out. Amy's mother Janis Winehouse carried her for 9 months
while she was developing.

Intellectual; Amy Winehouse did not develop much intellectually during pregnancy. She would have been able to
hear sounds from outside the womb, or the heartbeat and stomach growls of her mother.
