Unit 5- Marketing on the travel and tourism

Final deadline:29/03/2018

Wiktoria Pasieczny

P1-In this assignment I will be outlining the background concepts of marketing.

What is marketing? Marketing is a process of the process of how a certain business/organisation
promotes themselves to sell their product and services. Business will often use market research to
launch customer’s needs. A product/service which has been well researched will much more likely
encourage the customer to buy it/use it. For example, the tour operator TUI may do a market
research to find out what the customer ideal holiday is, what kind of services they are looking
for/what destination/what price budget. And once the company puts all the information together
from tehri customer they can then create a kind of ‘ideal holiday’ that most of their customer want
therefore it will encourage them to but it as they will be pleased.

Function of marketing: The function of marketing is the reason itself of why it’s in use. Marketing is
an important concept of any organisation promotion strategy as it is there to sell the organisations
products and services. If the organisation cannot sell their products and services it will not guarantee
them success and profitability. For example, the TUI tour operator uses various marketing methods
to sell e.g. airline tickets. Another reason why function of marketing is vital for ay company as it
increases the profit income, any companies main goal is to receive income from thing they do/offer
and in order to receive nay profitability companies conduct market research to make a product
which will make/provide them with a high amount of income. It is very important that the market
research is conducted correctly and detailly as otherwise it can cause a business to decline.

Marketing mix also allows to build a certain reputation for the company. As if the company
promotes their products and services effectively then it will result in a high number of people
noticing it and therefore buying it. Word of mouth is also very important for the marketing mix in
any companies’ strategy as the both positive/negative feedbacks/opinions spread through word of
mouth by previous customer that could use the company’s products or services and they may either
warn other not to use the companies’ services to recommend it. Word of mouth is when people
spread opinions or feedbacks to their friends or family members. A positive word of mouth will not
only result in the companies already existed customer saying good about them but also their
customer recommending the company to their friends and family members which will easily provide
the company with a growth of target audience without the company taking any hard effort into it.
However, if the word of mouth is negative then people will warn other not to use the company’s
product and services and therefore the company will already ‘lose’ customer’ that they don’t even
have the occasion to have in reality.

Marketing mix: In order for any organisation to be successful and get profitability they need to
include the 4-important p’s in their company strategy. There 4 vital p’s are also known as the
marketing mix.

Product: The company need to consider what kind of product/service
they will be lunching, as it will be the main thing that the company will
have to offer towards their customers. The company needs to make
sure that the product/service they will be offering will meet the needs
and expectations of their customer and encourage them to purchase
it/use it.
