Skills (effectiveness in football)

Passing- To pass the ball successfully, I placed my non-kicking foot beside the ball and flexed
my leg back to gain momentum, after the execution phase it was essential for me to follow
through to direct the pass. This was a key skill which was important for me to know as during
the game it required a lot of passing.
Strength – My key strength was short passing to my teammates, this was because I used the
right technique for the preparation and execution phase. The majority of the short passes were
directed to my teammates.
Weaknesses – In the game situation, my weakness was that due to under pressure I would
either over-hit the ball, this was because I had to lace the ball rather than side foot the ball and
unusually not adding enough power when I was hitting the ball too lightly.

Shooting- My shooting was decent because I used the correct method which was lacing the
ball, to get power, as I was about to shoot my head was down so it would allow me to observe
the part of the ball I needed to hit, this method was convenient in terms of gaining power. The
other method was the side foot which is similar to the lacing technique but this time it
required for me to kick the ball with the side of the foot in order to increase precision.
Strength- The main strength for me was shooting from close distance, this was because I used
the correct method which was using the inside of the foot that allowed me to gain precision,
increasing the chances of my shooting to be on target.
Weaknesses – My main weakness was that from distant shooting, I didn’t use the right method
which was lacing the ball this was because I always side footed the ball which meant that I
didn’t gain enough momentum to get so much power in my shots.

Controlling- During this session we controlled the ball with different body parts; this had
involved controlling the ball with our feet, knee and chest. My partner had to throw the ball in
the air and I had to control the ball with my foot, to do that I had to follow the through the
direction of which the ball was heading and after it made contact with my foot, I immediately
cushioned the ball towards me so the ball doesn’t hit me awkwardly and go far away.
Strength- My core strengths were controlling the ball with my foot and knee, the reason for
this was that my timing was perfect when the ball came towards me; I cushioned the ball and
let it follow through.
Weaknesses- The main weakness for me was controlling the ball with my chest, this was
because I let the ball hit my chest rather than allowing the ball following through my chest in
order to gain full control of the ball.

Skills (effectiveness in football)

Tackling- I had a challenge with my opponent, which was trying to prevent him from getting
past me. I have managed to get the ball from him often because I immediately went up to my
opponent closely to limit him space and time, which causes him to lose the ball due to
pressure. This was very effective because learning this skill meant that I didn’t had to rely on
my teammates for a defensive challenge, I simply balanced the workload by not letting all my
players face every challenge.
Strength- My key strength was causing a lot of pressure to my opponent this was because I
didn’t allow him enough time to create an attack since I was in front him, blocking him from
completing a dribble.
Weaknesses- The main weakness for me was going into tackles too quickly, sticking my foot
out, which meant that the opponent simply went straight past me with ball. This was because I
missed the ball completely and this gave enough room for my opponent to take me on.

Creating space- There was game based on 4 versus 3 situations; this was about keeping the ball
as long as possible so each team can be in possession of the football. To achieve this everyone
created spaces which lead to separating out the defenders so the person with the ball had
enough space as well as time to decide to whether draw a player in and pass or search for a
team player who is making an attacking run while he is in space, moving away from the
defender.
Strength – The key strength for me was creating extra options for my teammate so he can have
the help that he needed in order to release the ball and not holding it for too long, which
increased the likelihood of losing possession of the ball.
Weaknesses – My core weaknesses was that I didn’t make overlapping runs, this meant that it
made it easier for my opponent to keep track of me. Over lapping runs would have been
effective because I would be getting away from the defender and into space.

Movement- During the game I manage to move in the space, this allowed my teammate to
have some options to pass, which created a form of attacking. The movement which was
provided from me was a key skill because filtering around the opposition meant that it gave my
team mate enough time to pick a pass.
Strength- My fundamental strength was producing a lot movements, this was a good strategy
since I was able to be a part of attacking as well as defending situations and moreover I
managed to lure my opponents out of their original positions.
Weaknesses- The main weakness for me in this category was in a game to game situation, I
would mark my opponent but then he would make enough space for himself to run in the
centre (diagonal run) making me unaware of his attacking runs and then beating me to that
danger zone where he would have the chance to score.
