Your name and surname: __________
Your student number: ______________
Now please answer the questions below in the spaces provided.
1. About your personal wiki
1.1 Your community report number:
(You can find the number just above the title of your synopsis.)
REPORT NUMBER:________________-
The title: Higher Education Students and How They Deal With Existential Anxiety
1.2 What did you like most about working on your report? (Write a few sentences below.)
The miniature literature review I undertook to truly conceptualise my topic was incredibly
interesting. I read a lot of journal articles recommended by a student completing their Masters in
Philosophy this year. I came across new theorists and it definitely sparked my interest in philosophy
once more.
1.3 What did you like least about working on your report? (Write a few sentences below.)
The reading was sometimes difficult and felt tedious at times. Am I putting in too much research
effort for this wiki page? Will anyone find this interesting and genuinely want to engage on my page?
These are a few of the questions that came to mind I was going through the process of creating my
wiki. As my topic was difficult to grasp for myself at times, it became even more necessary to
understand how to break everything down so that it remained relatable and palatable for my peers,
while still maintaining academic integrity.
1.4 How could your report be further improved? (Write a few sentences below.)
During my research I had to come to terms that the initial perception I had on existential anxiety was
based on global ideologies and discourses, such as the individual being at the centre. I have
struggled to reconceptualise my topic to include an African perspective and still need to work on
that. I think my wiki can embrace epistemic disobedience more and branch out further into African
ideology. As I continue to edit my wiki page, I will be more inclusive of the different perspectives and
tying it into the theoretical lenses.

2. Engaging with other students
We asked you to keep an eye on other students’ reports as they develop, to
comment on them, and to try to make use of comments that people leave on your
report.
2.1 Of all the student reports that you have had a look at, which one did you find the most
interesting or inspiring? Please type the report title and the name of the author in the spaces
below.
Report title: Narcissistic abuse survivers
Author’s name/initials and surname: BUSISIWE HOPE NTULI
2.2 Why did you find this report especially interesting/inspiring? (Write a few sentences.)
The term “narcissist” is used excessively in today’s society as we have a tendency to label people in
our lives, or in the lives of people around us, when they do or say harmful things repeatedly. While
some people may display narcissist characteristics or tendencies at certain points in time, one
cannot be certain this person is, by diagnostic standards, a narcissist. I found the wiki interesting, as
this was narcissism through the eyes of this student. Her/his experiences and biases came out in the
writing and it painted a picture of their experiences and their relationship with the topic. That is why
I found this wiki to be the most interesting. However, I do feel this may apply to every wiki page and
the author.
2.3 “Whenever you hear the term ‘community’ (even in this module!) you should be suspicious.
Who is being included and made to look as if they are all the same and belong together? Who is
being excluded and made to look as if they are irrelevant to the issues being faced by the
community?”
Of all the student reports that you had a look at, which one do you think did the best job of
reminding readers to be suspicious when they hear the term ‘community’ and to think twice about
who is being included in or excluded from the community? (Please do not choose your own
report.)
Report title: Community of higher education students with Anxiety Disorders in South Africa
Author’s name/initials and surname: TRACY-LEE SAM
2.4 Why do you think this report succeeded in reminding us that we should be suspicious when
we hear the term ‘community’? (Write a few sentences.)
This author included the heads/policymakers of the higher education system in the community, as
they do have an active role in the experiences of their students. However, this is where the
controversy comes into play, as these role players cause distrust and anxiety itself in their students.
