, UNIT 9 PROJECT MANAGEMENT ASSIGNMENT A March 1, 2024
Introduction
A software development company has hired me as a trainee project manager
and requested that I research the various approaches. I will evaluate the three
distinct projects in this report, outlining each step and the advantages and
disadvantages of each methodology according to the given circumstances. In
this report, the foundations of IT project management will be covered. In
addition to learning and applying at least three methodology approaches to
ensure the success of an IT project, my goal is to use the five essential phases
of project management. Lastly, I will make this IT project better by looking at
problems and using my creativity to create a range of solutions.
P1
What is Project management?
The methodical use of processes, methods, expertise, and experience to
accomplish project objectives within set limits is known as project management.
It entails assigning and arranging resources to carry out duties or obligations
within a particular sector. Complex projects in the fields of engineering,
construction, healthcare, and information technology are frequently linked with
project managers. Based on their industry and strategic goals, organisations
take on projects. For example, they may manage an online marketing campaign
or improve software in a healthcare system. In the fast-paced professional world
of today, project management is an essential business skill for organisations of
all sizes and in all industries. The necessity for novel methods that increased
efficiency and output led to the field's official founding in the 1950s.
Project managers work with stakeholders to establish project objectives,
delegate tasks, and create quality control protocols that guarantee the final
product meets requirements. Projects include things like developing software,
constructing buildings, providing relief, and expanding geographically. To
accomplish project objectives and guarantee cost-effectiveness, on-time
delivery, and quality standards, project managers organise, coordinate,
supervise, and control resources. There are multiple phases involved in this
process, including setting goals for the project, drafting a thorough strategy,
assigning resources, planning the work, controlling risks, and keeping track of
developments.
