, Types of event

Routine and non-routine

A routine event happens at a given time every year. It may be annual event such as a
spring fair or January sale. A business owner who organizes an annual event needs to
make sure his target market knows the event is happening once a year. Non-routine
events are those that do not happen regularly; they may happen once for a particular
reason or an event. These events may be the opening of a new building, the launch of a
new product or a new service. Sometimes an event is organized to ask permission to do
something.

Formal informal

Business events are divided into formal and informal occasions. Both types of events
have similarities, they both need speakers for the event and facilities need to be made
available. A formal business event could involve a meeting where information can be
shared with other interested groups known as stakeholders. These formal meetings
usually are led by a chairman. Another type of formal event is a black-tie ball. In either
case, formal events have certain rules and etiquette that need to be followed. Informal
business events are much more relaxed than formal ones. There are many different
types of informal events including the following.

- Speed networking – business people get together to share business tips and find
ways to work together.
- Business breakfasts, lunches or dinners – business people get together to meet
and talk informally about their business.
- Business clubs – business people get together with a special focus such as
groups of women, older business people or business people who are from
individual ethnic groups.

Another informal business event is a training session; some businesses have regular
weekly training sessions. Others will have days each year when the whole staff receives
training. Staff training sessions are especially common in schools and colleagues.
