Unit 8: long haul travel destinations

P4/M3 (combined)

P4: research and produce a destination profile for a selected long haul destination linking to
different types of visitors from the UK.

In this assignment I have put together pass and merit criteria together and talked about Florida and
what different types of visitors from the UK and what features would contribute.

Accessibility

 Methods of transport e.g. air, cruise- A passengers from the UK could use air and cruise as a
method of travel options. P&O cruises offers many cruises that are for 35 nights from
Southampton to 13 destinations.
The passengers from the UK could also travel by flight. British airways from London (LGW) to
Orlando (MCO). Miami airport and Tampa airport is close to the city but Orlando airport
around 45 minutes away drive to Disneyworld which could be inconvenient for families since
the children could get restless in the car. All the airports have connecting flight from all over
the world this is convenient for elderly people since they will not have to walk around. They
are also more likely to use the cruise since they would want to relax as well. Families would
probably us the airline since it would be a quick and easier way to get to Florida since they
will be with young children and they could sometimes get restless. Couples are mostly
probably to use any one of the services since both the transportation offer great deals while
a solo traveller would use an airline since it could be a cheaper option for them.

 Availability and frequency-the ship arrives on the 23 rd February 2019, the customers are
available to choose their preferred dates when they want to go on the cruise. Also the
occupancy of the ship is 3,096. The flight from the London is on the 22 nd of November 2018
till the 30th November 2018. The customer is able to choose any seats they prefer, since the
seats are available now but might be booked later. The availability is a good for all types of
visitors since they could book their holidays and time of the year when they want to and
could also keep looking for heaper deal which are available.

 Travelling time- The cruise is for 35 nights and stops at plenty different destinations. The
flight takes 9 hours 50 minutes from London to Orlando.

 Cost- for the cruise the prices vary for different cabins the average would be £1959. The
price of the night ticket is £418.51 per person which includes taxes. The customer can add
car hire with different options which would cost them another £200.32 per person.

 Suitability for the traveller e.g. classes available, facilities provided- The ships has restaurants
and bars with swimming pools for the enjoyment of the customers. There are also spas, gym
and also a theatre which they could use. The cruise is a 35 nights and is a full air conditioned
rooms with mirrors. The cabin also has two lower beds with a wardrobe and drawers, with
adjoined bathrooms and hairdryers. The cabin also has TV, free Wi-Fi and a coffee maker.
They are also other option to stay that the in the cruise. The airline preferred meals as per
the customer choice, they are able to select their own seats, TV on board, chaffer services,
extra legroom with charging points. This would appeal to different types of visitors since
they have classes on the plane and also economy class. Business passengers can use the
