Unit 18 - Managing a Business Event

P8 Reviewing the success of the business event
M3 evaluate how a business event can inform future planning
In this report, I will be reviewing the success of our Cheshire Oaks event, including all our targets
that we set as a group and reviewing how well we met our targets. I will be then evaluating how our
business event can inform future planning.
It is important to be aware of that our main event’s target was only to celebrate the end year course,
however it was also a business event which had to be quiet professional since it was a part of
coursework to increase and gain knowledge and more experience. Therefore, Reviewing and
evaluating the success of an event is one of the key important aspect when an event organiser
conducting follows up activities after the event has ended. This is because it help us to analysis and
evaluate what we did well and what we did not do well in the event, and establish new
improvements for ourselves during planning and running the event. Therefore, the next time we will
be able to plan and run the event more efficiently by using our time more wisely and effectively as
well as making sure that we are not going to repeat the same mistakes again and therefore aim to
avoid them. In fact, having feedback from my event’s delegates, will help me much more to
understand how my attendees think of the event, by telling my how it well it went and any other
aspects that they thought it could be improved in some way in the upcoming event. Furthermore, I
do believe that they are two main key questions that will help me to understand how well my event
went on as well as analysing the key positive and negative about the event, and these are; what the
aspects of the event went well?, and what aspects of the event could have been improved?
Overall, the event have received very positive feedbacks from delegates which shows how well and
successful was the event, as they were very happy and pleased with the trip to Cheshire Oaks and
the different aspects of the evet despites of the unpleasant issues that occur at the beginning of the
event. Although, some of the planned activities have not been covered during the event, the other
planned activities went well and have been covered which were very helpful to meet our targets.
One of the these planned activities which were not covered during the event were that we failed to
provide the information that we gathered about the event and give them to the attendees in a more
professional way rather than just communicating verbally. This is because we already prepared the
formal information papers that supposed to be handed to the attendees before the depuration of
the minibus toward the event venue. However, the attendees were very flexible and collaborative as
they have some background of the event as well as they were able to ask our team member for
anything that they were unaware of. In addition, when the event has ended, me and my team
members were able to discuss what went well, what not went well as well as what we needed to
improve for the next event, we believed that our event was a successful event as an overall since all
the delegates were happy with it and stratified.
During the discussion, some of the team members were able to give their own opinions and
thoughts of the event, as some of them discussed important aspects of how the event could have
been more effective and successful. For example, we came up with the idea of coming earlier than
the time we supposed to be in the college for the departure of the journey. This is because we were
facing some problems with the transportation as the minibus did not work at the first time, however
were able to sort it out. Coming earlier means that we will have much more time before to check
everything and review the plan before the delegates start coming to the meeting point for
departure. Another point that raised during the discussion was time management, as we believed
that we could do much better in planning our time more effectively as some of the team members
ended up rushing for the last few days as they did not plan their time effectively. Therefore, as a
