Lecture content: Understanding cell Cytoskeleton and how they move.

The diversity of cell shape, size and organisation is endless. There are lots of different types
of cells, some examples of these are:

-Sperm cells
 Amoebas – move more sedately and reshape the cell itself.
 Cells in the tissue that heal the skin à they can do this because the cells move to
heal themselves. All cells rely on movement to be able to do their job. Inside all these
cells is a cytoskeleton that regulates the movement.

Q: How is cell shape and movement regulated?
Cell shape and movement rely on tight regulation of intracellular mechanics and the cell's
physical interaction with its environment.
Types of cells: All cells are able to move because of their cytoskeleton.

1) Keratinocyte – this is involved in regulating the matrix environment.
In the video: the shape stays the same when it moves. How does this happen and why?

2) Amoeba cell (A common cell found in ponds)
In the video – it maintains its shape when it moves.
