- points against
- quotations
Religious Education Mock.
Reasons for abortion:
● Financial issues - Not being able to afford to
correctly raise the children or can’t afford to give
the child a good life.
● Too young - Being too young to raise a child, or being
too young and still being a child themselves meaning
they’ll be unable to raise the child as a good role
model.
● Sexual assault - If a woman was raped by a man and so
came pregnant, she may not want to keep that child
as the child being a constant reminder of the rape.
ALso rape means that a mother may not be prepared or
ready to be a mother, as they didn’t chose when they
wanted to be amother as it was forced upon her.
● Religious reasons - If a woman is holy, she may choose
to abort the baby (though frowned upon) as having a
child out of wedlock is sinful.
Reasons against:
● You’re killing a human life - The bible (religion) says to
not murder, and some beleieve that abortion means
killing a child.
● A mother's goal is to be a mother - Traditionalist
believe (d) that a woman’s only goal was to have
children and so this would have been (for a time
period) morally wrong.
● Health Risks - The mother or the child may face health
complications such as diabetes which could kill
either the mother, child or both.
, Quotes Against:
● "Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 'Before
I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were
born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the
nations.'" - This quote says that every child has a soul
and so builds on the fact that that child is alive and
human. It also shows that God specifically makes
every human delicately and individually, so you’d be
‘killing’ one of God’s creations.
● "It is I who bring both death and life." - Life should be
natural and not be forced.
● "But when God, who had set me apart even from my
mother's womb and called me through His grace, was
pleased to reveal His Son to me, so that I might preach Him
among the Gentiles." - Life is made purposeful and so all
life has purpose as they’re all god’s creation.
Quotes for:
● “Love thy neighbour.” You should love everybody, and
if you can’t love them you wouldn’t be loving your
neighbour.
● “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.”
- This supports abortion as if that child’s life is going
to be riddled with pain and they’ll live and die not to
longer. It means the woman can choose to abort the
baby to make sure the baby doesn’t have to suffer.
● “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.” - Make your
own choices, just trust God within them.
